Preview! New Mod: -~-Warrior Pharaoh-~-

Tech tree soon to be posted here.
Looking for a couple testers, PM me if your interested!

Great idea and beautiful title screen. I will definitely playtest this.

Did you take any inspiration from the city-building Children of the Nile computer game as well?

I see Pharaoh stuff! Looks very interesting...

@ Good Game - I think he's taken inspiration from Pharaoh (by the screens) the game Children of Nile was meant to "sequel". Too bad they messed it up, :(. Maybe Ceasar IV is better....

Well you picked a nice irrigation mix. Thats a good start :) . Ever notice with those tiles a change in colours when placed beside each other? I thinks it to show the drainage at work.
anyway its important to have that firm in place Eygpt was all about irragation and the nile.

Look forward to seeing more on this. Nice work all around

"Children of the Nile" was never meant to be a "sequel"; this is a common misconception among traditionalist fans of the city-buidler series. Rather, it is a "society-builder" that emulates the dynamics of a barter economy and stratified society. Though it felt a bit incomplete, I personally found it to be the most superior and most interesting of the games (I started with Caesar II) as it did not have the arbitrary rules and artificial "housing loops" of city-building games, but that's just me. ;)

Anyways, to get back on topic, how about using ancient Egyptian names rather than the "classical" Greek names for Egyptian cities?

"Thebes" is Waset, "Memphis" is Men-nefer, "Heliopolis" is Nekhen, "Hierokonpolis" is On, and there are several others that I can't list off hte top of my head. :)

GoodGame: i can take no credit for the title screen,
i just put the text on it with photoshop, it was my wallpaper for a while.
also, i've never played "Children of the Nile", but will def look it up.

Nwoll: there is only three civs atm, but we can add more,
this really is about the Egyptians and the Hyksos mainly, but
Nubia was VERY important too to the mod. if you can think of some
others that would work perhaps i could fit in i'll put them.

T.A Jones: this is the same graphics mix used in Anno,
but i too really love it, and yes, irrigation is a very big part of the
landscape.

Ogedei_the_Mad: i love that idea and some of the names are traditional, such as On, but if you could help me with that, i'll give u a list
of the cities.

i really appreciate the imput, and hope to have this done soon, with regular updates.

Put up a city list and I'll get to looking up the traditional names. :)

thanks! i have a good feeling about this, it's simple yet quite epic,
and so pivital in Egypt's history. i mean if Atmose hadn't driven out the
Hyksos, then Egypt would have never been the super power they became.

bigdog5994: i agree, simple is fun when i was watching a documentary
called Reign of Twilight: Egypt's Golden Empire it was on PBS i think,
i have it on tape...anyway, the point is, i watched it again, and was really
interested in the part about the Hyksos, which got me doing allot more
research, and when i saw a map with the territories of the Hyksos, and Egypt,
and Nubia all different colours....i started thinking civ lol.

i'm working on it some more now, and i really think this is gonna be awesome,
especially with R8XFT expressing some intrest in making a Hyksos leaderhead.

Sword_Of_Geddon: your egypt units are so perfect for this,
well i mean, all the different people who make units deserve a big round
of aplause, but the assortment of Egyptian units is so perfect, because
Egypt's weapons and tactics really improved during the years that Ahmose's
grandfather, father, and brother resisted Hyksos rule. thank-you so much!

You mean Kinboat's Egyptian units. I only made a Musketman. Also look for ShiroKobburo's Egyptian Swordsman and Nubian Medjay Archer in the Unit Artist's libruary in the Unit board.

I made a pharoah leaderhead btw, check the graphics board, it might be on page two but its there.

woops! my bad.....
that's right....you made the pharaoh, and it was Kinboat who made the
units....so sorry. i have these things kinda all scribbled out on bits of
paper here and there, the credits are gonna be hell to put together. lol

This mod looks awesome and I'm really looking forward to trying it out (in spite of the fact that my time is limited :D ). I kind of agree with Nwoll, adding more civs (if possible) would give you more variables which would be a good thing IMO. However I love how you've really centered in on Egypt with Hyksos/Nubia, that's great.

well joatas....
my main focus is on those three nation, and the power struggle they
found themselves in. once i have them completely done (which at this point
i'm just getting the tec tree sorted out) then i will consider more civs.

but Warrior Pharaoh is about Ahmose I and his rise to power in the unification
of Egypt. he was a freedom fighter, a liberator, and this a chance to be him.

i also had in mind this being a FANTASTIC multiplayer senario, because it can
be quick, it can be bloody lol, or u can use diplomacy to win.
(that will be explained in the next update ;))
