True Multitreaded semi succession game, Immortal or deity.

I finallly manage to order Warlords and I will have them in a mounth or so.
So, I want to try a last time to play Vanilla version of Civ4 in all it's glory.

I try to play multitreaded suscession games, but it was not to enjoable for me yet.

Reason was to different skills level and different criteria on which people decide what save better or what save to choise, which plan to follow.
If not everyone playing each save, then one can not continue to implement his plan. People get dissapointed with there results. I personally do not undestand, because of some one played better then me it is a lesson to me, opportunity to improve, to undestand better.

I still see any game which really show use of different plan used by same skills player, show interesting devescification and way to compare different ways to play the game.

I invision this tread as an attempt to do that.


So, rules.

Civ4 Vanilla.
Civilisation to be decided.
Dificulty Immortal or deity.
Speed normal.
Map - to be decided.

Varian rule.
Every one plaing the same game by peaces.
I expect 50 turns on start, then 40-30-20 untill end of game.
Every one playing each turn.
Every one write report.
Every one can play every turn.

Every one is free to start from any save of previous round, even his own.

In report one explain, why he choise this save.

As ability exist to choise save I would suggest to try deity dificulty, as if one or player stuff up he still free to change save next time.

That is an opportunity for all people who argue with me and advocate different stile of playing to compare with each other when figting the most dificult AI posible in Vanilla civ.

Every one wellcome, My friends, people who hate me.

Advice, be prepared not to produce the best save or even anyone else agree that you save is not crap. Idea is not to be first each time, but to compare result of different play in peace by peace, with opportunity to follow your plan even if everyone else think your plan is bad and compare result.

Opportunity to compare ourself with the best, most during players.

Please, be prepared to big time commitment. I envision to try to do a turn in average every 3-5 days.

Can you increase the turnset aveerage to 1 week. 3-5 days for 20-30 turns each is kind of stretching it?

I am not nearly good enough yet to play in your company. But I will follow this game with interest and hope that you choose to try Deity.
 
You are wellcome Qwack. I would not go to hurry it, If you need 1 week it will be a week, but if posible to do it early we better try to move it alone.

Personally I would suggest everyone who want to learn to take part.
Idea is that you will undestand much better what and why we are doing and why if you try to solve problem yourself first. I can practivally garanty win on Immortal from any general start, Deity is an other animal all together. There is a huge difference between immortal and deity level.
 
I will join the band of people about to get stuffed by the AI at regular intervals and every couple of weeks showing how to destroy Mutineer's good work by taking his save and making a mess of things!!

Seriously will be a great learning experience.

I'll be lurking here (monarch level player myself, so hopeless at deity).

Hopefully it will be deity and not Huyna Capac.

Having played Fix the trash game 1 and 2, I can tell you this format allows for
- much fun
- playing higher level than usual : others making different plans = no "common" error + unlucky loss less likely (barb popping hut for one guy is popping gold for the other).
 
Deity will not be too hard picking the best save each time, since the main reason for losing the game is being randomly wiped out by AI war declarations.
 
I would love to see how this thread turns out. A possible hint is to play on Epic or Marathon, and for the sake of the difficulty level, 40 turns is too much. I'd do intervals of 10 turns, because really, if your first warrior's eaten, you lose.
 
This sounds pretty fun :). I definitely think it should be done on Deity. How about Epic speed, Fractal map, randome leader?

All my games are played on normal speed.
Currently I am thinking about give ourself little advantage by choising archipelago/shaky continents setting.

Now we got resonable amount of people, (Sign in is not closed, more people = better), WE can have discussion about settings, but normal speed is not optional :)
 
Normal or epic is fine by me. May I suggest a spiritual leader - the ability to change the civics of the last person without anarchy should let people put more of their own input into the game thread.

comment : It depends on the length of each turnset. In 10 turns, you could still be blocked for half the time...:mischief:
 
I suppose I should say I am bagging the spot for...

"The person who shows why Mutineer's (insert other names as required) strategy is good by demonstrating how badly things can go wrong if you make the wrong chocie!!"

So Normal speed is a given

Seriously I don't mind map type / leader other than trying to avoid an isolated continent start as that would make it impossible

Dude, it's best ball. My high school golf team could beat Tiger if we were playing best ball against him. Well, probably not but still it should be a lot easier than a normal Deity game.

Firstly if you can play at Monarch level with the extra "focus" of playing it as an SG I think your play goes up a level so you are well qualified

Secondly it is not about ability but a desire to contribute, stay the course, learn and have fun!!

I would prefer sprititual leader also (due to alot of possible strategies), im leaning towards Saladin because of his versatility. I would just say not to pick Julius Caesar or Huayana Capac. Map type doesnt matter to me, although I would prefer fractal or continents.
