4000 BC
I knew Great Plains could go cattle heavy, but this is unreal. Our shield production will be off the chart. This is the most powerful start I have ever seen in a game. I would risk going up to immortal if you could guarantee this type of start. Worker and animal husbandry are auto-pilot with this setup.

3880 BC
We pop a hut and get fishing for free.

3760 BC
This game is starting to feel already won as we just got another tech - sailing. Of course, on a map where I don't know how much water there is...

3730 BC
I meet Asoka in the east.

3670 BC
(IT) A lion tries to eat our scout. We need 6 turns to heal.

3580 BC
(IT) The next tech is mining to head to bronze working.

3520 BC
Our scout can't even finish healing, as it needs to run away from another lion.

3310 BC
Our hut luck runs out, and we simply get a map.

3250 BC
(IT) The next research project is bronze working. I don't see many hills for potential metal sources.

3160 BC
Another hut is popped, but all we get is experience.
I met Qin to the south. His borders are pretty close. I also met psycho Monty.

3100 BC
I end up by a bear. I hope woodsman II in a forest is enough to survive.
(IT) Is it just enough, as our scout is at .1 health.

2680 BC
(IT) I revolt to slavery.

2650 BC
Qin WILL claim the only visible copper.
I pop a hut, and get a map.
(IT) Next up is iron working. I would like to find some metal.

2620 BC

Does playing over a weekend create a problem? Weekends are often bad for me.

Sweetacshon (on deck)
DarthCycle
Sanabas

Our win target is open for debate.

Remember 15 peace / 10 war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

I can play during weekends.

Got it, but won't be able to play until tomorrow.

The insanity isn't just the cattle. When was the last time you got *3* luxuries at the capitol that can all be hooked up immediately.

Oops - I just noticed I didn't put my a dot map up for city #2. Yes, we already have a settler almost done. You should find two warriors fortified south of the capitol near horses, wine, flood plains cattle, and a river. That is where I was thinking for the next city. We need that spot ASAP as that is the nearby horse, and China will still that spot quickly.

Yeah, you have enough food to be working fur, gems and gold which will catupult your GNP into the stratosphere, you will probably gain and then never lose the tech lead.

LK could up put up the intial save for this game?

I can't tell if we built a 2nd worker yet from the picture. With gold, fur, wheat and deer unconnected at the end of my turn, I know we could use another.

Perhaps a little more feedback on what is currently being built in the cities would be nice, so we can better follow what's going on.

For instance, looking at one of the screenshot, I see we have 2 barracks being built. That says to me we are setting up an agressive gameplay style.

Horse seems to be within our cultural border, but we don't have copper anywhere near.

Also, feedback on what is researched and why would also be usefull. Currently, iron working is being researched, I guess this in order to see iron on the map and settle a city near it, if possible? If that's the goal, why are we building 2 different barracks, isn't one sufficient this early? the other city could have prepared another settler, no?

I fail to understand the strategic planning of our start...

I built a Barracks in Persepolis to allow the city to grow before the next Settler. It has already grown now, but since there were only 2/3 turns left on the Barracks I decided to finish it.

Pasargadae is building a Barracks for lack of anything better. I don't like spamming Warriors, and I would like the city to grow a bit and gain some improvements (Pastures) before starting on a Worker.

This is a got it. Sorry guys, it was my birthday and I've been hungover. ;)

IT 2050BC (actually, the posted save was 2080??, so I get to press enter again)

Well, there wasn't much discussion, and I was going to post some screenies for that purpose.. but why bother, it's too early for that - wait 'til IW and that'll tell us if we have to liberate that copper from Qin. Also upon scanning around, I notice Asoka is sending a settler toward HIS copper site. What are they planning??

I press pause on the second barracks, and train a scout instead. I notice that we don't have the wheel, and as the horses are not on the river, after some deliberation I decide to pasture the cows first at Pasa.

(1) 2050BC
umm... :coffee:

(2) 2020BC
Oh great... our scout dies, and the barbs are showing up on our doorstep as well.

(3) 1990BC/ (4) 1960BC
Without a scout, there is even less to tell.

(5) 1930BC
Bingo!
civ4screenshot0106ys7.jpg

(which is lucky, as I was starting to feel concered about my horse pasturing choice)
I am scared of barbs and neighbors, but feel content with humanity's (or at least the AI's approximation thereof) goodwill and select writing. It is only a few turns to archery if the natives get restless, with the iron hooked up soon enough.

(6) 1900BC/ (7) 1870/ (8) 1840BC
A lot of scouting.. by the opposition! Qin, Monty, HC, and Asoka all swan past. Our warrior fends off a barb. Some MMing to speed writing.. epic makes me nervous, sometimes.

(9) 1810BC
Persepolis worker>settler
Reasons:
1. A warrior takes only 2 turns
2. The city can and should grow to size 7, but is MMd for commerce, and can grow while building a library (or an army)
3. Well, its a settler....

(10) 1780BC/ (11) 1750BC
Pasa scout>barracks (max food)

(12) 1720BC/ (13) 1690BC/ (14) 1660BC/ (15) 1630BC
Writing is in, and not much else, other than barbs.
civ4screenshot0108uc8.jpg

It was a standard "infrastructure" TS, and I hope I didn't leave us too unprotected. There are a few barb cities that have sprung up.. we should take at least the northern one, and with a settler due, we could plug the gap between forest and stone:
civ4screenshot0109kl9.jpg

I selected Alphabet, although no beakers have gone into it. I now see that our UU replaces chariot, not horse archer, so maybe I shouldve gone the wheel before writing, but iron is in now, so... anyway, techs are up for discussion. Writing also opens up trade issues, but of course I didn't sign any OBs. We could trade with Qin and Asoka.

On the city improvement side, I feel we should farm all the floodplains and hunt the deer, and we also have gold to mine. As you'll see, we are a little behind on food.

Here're the numbers and such:
GNP - we're up there
civ4screenshot0111hj8.jpg

MFG - Asoka... who else?
civ4screenshot0112fz2.jpg

Food - we need to improve
civ4screenshot0113ti6.jpg

Power - we need more pointy sticks
