DEAD IN THE WATER ::: Rise and Fall of the Great Nations

The Year is 4000 BC. the planet Earth is green and ripe fruits of life. Humanity is rising from the frost of the previous ice age. Primitive men develop weapons of stone and everyday life goes on as it did before.

But now, great men are rising from the primitives. Leaders. Leaders with a soul yearning to do something great. And with the help of his allies, he may just do so...

Take the role of a primitive man and work to colonize the planet with your imperialist ways, or will you settle in a small area and work to bear prosperity to your people?

::: ::: :::

This will take place of a normal Earth Map. You have the choice of making up ur own empire or u can build up a know empire from scratch (like Greece or Rome)... Heres basically what u need:

Country Name - (example. The Carthigian Empire)
Founded: (example. 4000 BC.)
State Religon: (Example. Islam 'or' None)
Government: (example. Despotism)
Economy: (example. Breaking Even)
Military: (example. Adaquete)
Civil Status: (example. Unhappy / Revolution / Happy / etc.)
Special Unit: (example. Cossacks)
Navy: (example. None - You need to research Alphabet)
Airforce: (example. None - You need to research Flight)
Starting Technology: (Example. Pottery & Warrior Code)
Culture: (example. Rich / Poor / Developing)
Wonders: (Example. You dont start with wonders, ya gotta build em, and be realistic about it)
Education: (example. Rich / 3 out of 4 educated)
Literacy: (Example. Rich / 3 out of 4 literate)
Scientific Research: (example. Extensive)

Luxuries and nearby Resorces are to be placed according to the actually Civ III Earth Maps and the real world. Realism is the key.

Military Victory is easiest against Barbarians but if going against against another players nation... Well, be fair and considerate, take into the thought ur status (like the one above)... The Size and Stature of your army depends on ur Nation. If u have 3 major cities then it doesn't take much to have a strong military but if you have like 15 major cities then you need alot more.

Economy is represented this way.
- Collapsing: -10 or lower
- Weak: -1 through -9
- Breaking Even: 0
- Growing: +1 through +9
- Strong: +10 though +24
- Economic Superpower: +25 or more

Your economy can start as either Collapsing (for those who want a challenge building it up), Weak (Still a challege but a simplier one) Breaking Even (Its clean start) or Growing (Starting with a bonus) You can not have Strong of Economic Superpower...

To improve economies You must make trade with others players. A luxury item ammounts to +1 economy point. You cannot simple go from a weak to a growing economy in no time flat. It takes work.

Military grows slowly too... it takes three turns to build a new force (1 warrior = a force of 100 warriors) You can build units in every city and speed up the growth of military. But for governments like democracies... Building 15 warriors or a force of 1500 warriors, will cost 1 economy point, the upkeep cost.

Before I go on, tell me, am i doing this right? If so I will go on but if not I might as well tell a mod to delete this.)

mhmm, it seems to fit together, and there is no "right" way about it, unless you mean avoiding elitism :p. Finish off the rules and the starting map etc, then see how it fits together, then we judge

Sounds good, I'm gonna go find my lil black book with my notes for this... Can u find a white map of the world for me? One with the countries not lined. Just a blank map. Everyone can use it to show where their country is and whenever its updated I can keep it on the first post.

Look in the Map Thread linked from the Notice Board. Notice Board has lots of useful stuff. This looks interesting, will consider posting a nation soon.

link doesnt work at least for me...

Much better maps than the Wikipedia one are available.

Thx comrade... Though u must realize I can only work with wat I got and all I had was that other map... Now on got these.

Thx... I'll post the rest soon.

Heres the rest of the rules:::

Costs of Culture. To build culture it takes work and money. and maintaining them are just as expensive. Temples and Cathedrals cost 1 economy point each... however, you can counter this by building harbors and marketplaces which produce one economic point.

Each Civ can have two starting techs... heres the ones u can pick.

Warrior Code
Pottery
Ceremonial Burial
alphabet
Masonry

techs following these can be whatever u want so long as they stick with the era and are reasonable.

With all this said I suppose the rest can be figured out as we go... If conflict over some things come up I'll try ans settle it fairly...

Heres my Nation:

The Sovie Carthan Empire
Founded 4050 BC. (Current Age 4000 BC. You'll see why)
State Religion: None
Government: Late Anarcy (theres a battle for power... the first post of my story will get over the Anarcy and set up the government)
Economy: Weak (-2)
Military: Strong (War between the people, most units are conscripts)
Civil Status: Revolution (Civil War)
Special Unit: Carthan War Elephants (This is just the early age special u can have specials for each age.)
Navy: 3 ship units (Transport Canoes) = 150 ships, seperated between the warring factions.
Starting Tech: Alphabet / Pottery
Culture: Poor, Most cultural structures destroyed in battles
Education: Poor... Educated in War (2 out of 10 educated)
Literacy: Poor... Only generals, messengers and other high rankers can read. (1 out of 20 literate)
Scientific Research: None. War-Time Stopped research.

heres a map of my empire. It is set where Carthage was:

Empire represented by the Red... That Greenish dot is where the main city is.

Thank u comrade.... do u want to join this?

Sorry I'm kind of strapped for time(damn school and electronics refusing to bend to my will) and I'm in 3 other NESes right now.

Have you played in a NES yet? I highly recommend that you play in at least two or three NESes before modding one...modding is a huge responsibility and can come as a rush to most newbies.

after skimming them, the rules look clean tho.

oh pls. Noob is such a strong word. I'm just Modingly Challenged...

I haven't played in one yet but perhaps i should.

Now newb and noob are not the same. The first a new player, the second is an annoying idiot.

Ill join as Rome

Rome
Founded 4025 BC
State Religion Free Religion
Government Monarchy, with a senate who advises the Emperor, and can propose laws (but not veto), and a few other things
Econemy: Don't think I can set this up
Military Moderate, but growing (the unemployed have to be soldiers)
Civil Status Calm
Special Unit Praetorean (Well trained troops from age 6, most from poor or slave families, dedicated to Emperor, heavily armed, some ride horses)
Navy Large, trade and war vessels apleanty
Starting techs Alphabet/Warrior Code
Culture Developing, rich commision museams, libraries, and sculptures and paintings
Wonders None
Education PRaetorean hopefuls, religous people and the rich all know how to read. In addition, newly funded schools, and the desire to be a senator has driven many to learn to read. (45% literate)
Econemy I don't think I can decideScientific Research Booming, Ideas from all over come to Rome

Put me were Rome is/was

Behind the Mask, as stated above, if you haven't played a NES here do that first. Imago's NES has room and probably Farow's too.

Yes, do join my NES, if you want to see how one goes. I formally invite you, and I'll answer any questions you might have. :)

A good idea, but like the other NESers, I suggest you put a hold on this for a week or two.

Then mod away. I'll join this then.

BTW: I modded a successful NES within a month of discovering and joining NESing.

welcome to nesing! hope you have a great time mate. Won't be able to join this but i wish you luck

and don't let the old guys get you down ;)
