mapsize 91x56 [Warlords] - (not 91x68 :dunno: )

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[The Map]

The map has a smaller map-size with a relatively big europe. The oceans are very small so you can better colonize the resource-rich american continent. I reshaped some parts of Europe, America and Asia (Japan as example), and the resource placement is more or less fair (depends on who is playing... ;) ).
After testing the map again and again ^^ , i think it's now optimized for multiplayer games.

Suggestions or critics are welcome - have a good game :)

-Some features
->smaller map for better performance in later eras (91x56)
->as example some landscape changes in south-asia to slow down the
development of the asian civs so just imagine that parts of southeast
asia has been flooded (not much)
->Panama canal is passable
->Australia is not reachable until you researched astronomy (same for
America)
->more coast in the northern hemisphere
->and and and... i didnt notice all the changes...just play it ;)

->Playable Civs

Egypt, Carthago, Arabia, Mali, Zulus
Spain, England, Germany, Greek
Viking, Russia, Persia, Mongol
China, Korea, Japan, India

[Installation Instructions]

-Download and unzip the file
-Copy the file in your "harddisk:\games\civ4\warlords\publicmaps" directory,
respectively in the directory with your civ4-warlords game files.
-Choose play a scenario and select "Earth17_91x56_AiOW_A"
-For Multiplayer-games copy the scenario you want to play also in the
"owndata\my games\Warlords\Saves\WorldBuilder" directory.
-A necessary for Internet-games is, if you have a router, to open the UDP2056
port for your specific ip-adress (open dos-box and type ipconfig for infos about
your ip) in the NAT-Config of your router (view router-manual for specific steps...)

hey the preview for this looks good for a fast paced game. im gonna try it out and post in some comments

Wow, absolutely great map! Tried it yesterday with 4 human players on laptops and it was still playable in the year 2000. Ok, ok, our laptops are brand new, but anyway it works and is even playable on lower end machines if you avoid trading world maps. Size of the map and civ placement are great, every civ seems to hve enough room to settle, even with 17 civs. Maybe I will delete 2-3 civs just to improve performance slightly and because all the diplomacy tends to become a little annoying in the end game.:D

The placement of important ressources is also great, oil and especially uran are not that easy to get for some civs and that's why the american continent becomes even more important later on. I played a ton of world maps where sending settlers to America was nothing more than a nice bonus, but here it is an absolute must to conquer the american continent if you want to be strong in the late game. I was sceptic at first about the "missing" land tile in Panama, but that means you don't have to fight barbarians from North- and South-America if you want to settle there, you just have to deal with either north or south but that still means a lot of work. Don't even think about landing there without at least 3 fully loaded galeons (with grenadiers, cavalry and cannons if you can, the Barbs will throw a ton of maces at you).

In our test game we discovered america in the year 1250 and the first galeons landed there somewhere around 1350, a bit too early, but it was also due to all the tech trading between 4 human players. But even without the tech trading I think the game develops too quickly on this map, due to all the great city spots out there, so a mod which slows down research should be a good choice.

what leaders are on the map

The Viking's start location should be moved 2 tiles SW.

->If you dont like the startposition, just start a new game with the map as egypts, then open worldbuilder and add first one settler (and warrior) to the spot you want and after that you can delete the old settler. Save it and you should be able to choose your modified map..., i put them there because otherwise it's to easy for russia or germany to settle down in the direction to scandinavia .

->hey thx :mischief: , good to hear that the map is usable for network games ;) , because therefore its made.
About your to fast tech-development, in our games we were never as fast as you but we always playing without tech-trade (and against each other hehe) , i think the tech/time accurancy should be more or less realistic..., in my games it was..
Using a mod to slow down tech-development is in my opinion not the best choice, because it can be very hairy to get some players in Gamespylobby, its hard enough to get them for a new map, but for private network sessions where all players trades their techs between each other, therefore i think its a good idea - or just play on a higher difficult level and with aggressive ai... :) , but i'll see what i can do.
thx for your detailed statement
PS: if you wish you can upload your *.sav game and i'll take a look for it (because of the fast teching... as i said in my games it worked well).

what leaders are on the map

->here the leaders from the civs which have more then one...

Hatshepsut, Asoka, Qin Shi Huang, Frederick, Elizabeth

:newyear: to all

Is there anyway I could get a clean version of this map? Im tyring to get different civilizations and starting locations and this is my favorite map. :D
