Update 1
“It’s just over this ridge NESers! Our new home at last!”
Iggy, North King and Farow led the group of settlers over the mountain and down into the valley below.
“At last.” said Farow, sitting down on his pack, “I thought that walk would never end.”
“Amen to that.” replied Iggy. “Anyway, where should we start off the city? This valley looks good. Lots of wood, sheltered-“
“No.” interjected North King, “The big island we saw from that mountain a while back would be much better. It’s defensible, and island cities are, frankly, very cool.”
“I think the bay just past this ridge would be much better.” retorted Farow, “Coastal, and easy access to fish. I like loaches you know.”
“You don’t say?”
“That would never work.” said North King, “The slope is way to steep down to the bay.”
“It’d be just like San Fran! It’s got lots of hills and is doing just fine.”
“Guys!” Iggy cut in, “No need to go crazy about something like this. When our city of Nesopolis grows enough, we can expand to both points.”
“Okay.” responded the other two, “But mine gets built first.”
The two looked at each other with fiery glances. North King broke the silence with a question.
“I believe you just pronounced our city ‘Nesopolis’. Shouldn’t it be pronounced ‘Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis?”
“Nesopolis sounds smoother.”
Farow nodded in agreement.
“What are you saying!?! Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis has a rhythm to it! It not only sounds better, but is more true to our NES origins.”
“You’re outvoted North King.” said Iggy flatly. “Anyway, let’s compromise. We’ll build the city in between the two places. Fair?”
“No, my place is much better.” responded Farow.
“Heck no. We’re starting on the island, and the city is named Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis. All those who support me say aye!”
Rougly half of the settlers shouted.
“Give us a few years.” said North King, “We’ll show you that the island was a better spot.”
With that, North King and his followers set out.
“I sure hope those guys can swim.” commented Iggy as North King and co. departed. “So, it’s up to us to build the city of Nesopolis then.”
Iggy set out for the halfway point he had suggested earlier.
“Farow?”
“Sorry Iggy, but I like the place I chose. It has a much better view, and I’m already committed to it.”
“Fine. I’ll start Nesopolis myself. I’m supposed to be mayor anyway. This whole trip was my idea, no? Anyway, who’s with me?”
A cricket chirped.
“Bad election mister mayor?” asked Farow with a grin on his face.
“Fine, be that way!”
Iggy jogged off into the distance with all of his zero followers.
After the breakup of the settlers, Farow’s group quickly set out to build a city. A small road was made (how the pavement arrived we do not yet understand), and a few houses were built. For lack of a better name, the community is currently referred to as ‘Farowville’.
On the other side of the bay, Iggy spent the summer building a gazebo from which he could govern the somewhat-defunct organization of Nesopolis.
Following a difficult swim and hike, North King and his bedraggled followers arrived on the island and declared it to be ‘Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis’, also commonly referred to as ‘North Kingston’. A small community was soon set up, and after some trials and tribulations, a windmill was set up for power. Farowville would later build a windmill of their own, and claim that North King had stolen their idea, but that is another story entirely.
