This is just a Rifleman reskin.

Anyone who is a fan of Sharpe will know that the Greenjackets, not the Redcoats, were the true heros of the Napoleonic War

They were contemporaries of the Redcoats, they were essentially skirmisher troops. I think they'd best be used in scenario specific mods where lots of units from one era can feature, or possibly replacing grenediers (the British generally kept grenediers within other regiments rather than as regiments on their own, even the Grenedier Guards were effectively a cavalry regiment)

Oh, and check out Sharpe. It's a great series of books and TV films.

I don't think any country uses grenadiers as a single regiment but I could be wrong. But with civ I think you just have to use your imagination a bit and pretend there's some riflemen with them - or you could just do it in the xml files :D Mounted Grenadiers would be great but there's no anime for that.
I've never heard of Sharpe so I'm guessing you have to live in the UK to have seen it, don't think it's ever been aired here.

Not sure which countries it's gone too. I imagine the books it's based on will be available. New one just out.

Sharpe was a great series. Very entertaining and Sean Bean is a great actor.

But its been a while since I've seen it; is Sharpe a greenjacket?

He is in the films, and in the books after he becomes Leuitenant. He's in the 95th Rifles and thus wears Rifle Green.

In fact the is not an error in the films, as the films begin when he becomes Leuitenant, whereas the books start before that when he's still a redcoat.

I think they'd make a good UU for England - they were much more of a unique unit for the period as their opponents didn't use rifles. Maybe if they have the same stats as a musketman but with first strikes to reflect the increased range of their rifles?

Good, idea, they are a bit trickey since they fall chronologically between musketman and rifleman in Civ4. In reality muskets were a lot more common for a much longer period than in Civ4.

They show the Sharpe movies now and then over here on PBS, History Channel and A&E. The books are my favorites and I highly recommend them!
The skins look great too....nice job on them!:goodjob:

You can get the Sharpe series of videos at many libraries as well. The books are written by Bernard Cornwell.

The Rifle Brigade (95th Rifles, Royal Greenjackets) were formed as special troops that fought in the Penninsular War, New Orleans and Waterloo. They did fight as independent units, often in front of regular redcoats. They were the "elite" of their day, and pioneered many of the tactics used today by the infantry.

Sharpe was a rifleman, and I'd recommend the series to anyone interested in a good read about the Napoleonic Wars. As an aside, Cornwall mentions "Rifleman Dodd" of the CS Forester short story in one of the Sharpe series books.

The Royal Greenjackets are still around, but now being reformed into a totally new division in the British Army. :D

Most (possibly all?) British Rifle Regiments wore Rifle Green, I've made this unit to look like a generic Rifle Regiment. I may tweak it at a later date so that you could also have The Chosen Men (berets and white arm insignia). I'm going to include them when I update the Great Britain mod, and I've got some great unique sounds lined up.

Great job, Mozza! Btw, I loved the Sharp movies. I cant wait to get some spare time to read the books. The S.A.S. site is great!
