Good idea? Bad idea?

Obviously there would need to be a replacement for every wonder for every civ, so it could be a little hard to do, and the graphics might pose a problem, but I always get annoyed when I see a Roman Great Wall or a Spanish Pyramid.

Bad Idea.
1 it would take some time to do, for a project that is almost rapped up.
2 it would need new graphics (both in Icons, Map Objects, and Videos)
3 an equivelant of each wonder would need to be found for each Civ in the time period of the origionial wonder being constructed [and i doubt this is possible] or you have the problem of making the game increasingly detrimistic by limiting certian wonders to certain civs, or having wonders far in the future count as ancient wonders...

Honestly I don't see what good it would do for the greater game.

Roman Great Wall or a Spanish Pyramid

Roman Great Wall not accurate? That Wonder does make sense here, Hadrian's Wall, Limes, etc. ... ? This is much more than accurate. ;)

Spanish Pyramid? Have you seen one. The Spanish start way after the Pyramids can be built (and said wonder is useless for them).

All in All, I think, wonder placements are quite accurate in the mod with a fair amount of non-linear gameplay too. (I mean not every game plays out the same!).

I think it is a awesome idea.

What about starting making a list? :)

PS: When did you see a spanish PYRAMID!????? O_õ!!?!??

OK, OK, Spanish Pyramid was a made up example!

Jeez, the things you guys take literally...

I've started compiling a list, but it's probably not going to happen and I'm not sure what to class as "wonders"

I have an idea for the American Unique Wonder: World Trade Center subtitues the Kremlim. The only thing that will not be right is the time you can make the Wonder.

But the WTC was one of the "symbols" of the Capitalism, and Capitalism in Civilization is = Rush by money with Universal Suffrage... =P

Well i think that this makes sense. >_<

OK, here're some ideas of mine:

?Stonehenge - Celt - Engineering Wonder?
The Great Pyramid - Egypt - Engineering/Religious Wonder
The Cliff Temple of Abu Simbel - Egypt - Engineering/Religious Wonder
Palace of 100 Columns - Greece - Engineering Wonder
Olympia - Greece - ??? Wonder
The Acropolis - Greece - ??? Wonder
The Theatre of Epidaurus - Greece - Artistic Wonder
The Sun Pyramid - Aztec - Religious Wonder
The Drama of Masada - Arabia - Military Wonder
The Pont du Gard - France - Engineering Wonder
The Colosseum - Rome - ??? Wonder
The Pantheon - Rome - Religious Wonder
The Baths of Caracalla - Rome - Engineering Wonder
Hagia Sophia - Turkey - Engineering Wonder
The Dome of the Rock - Arabia - Religious Wonder
The Imperial City - Japan - Palatial Wonder
The Mezuita of Córdoba - Spain - Religious Wonder
The Palatine Chapel - Germany - Religious Wonder
The Hradčany - ??? - Engineering Wonder
Santiago de Compostela - Spain - Religious Wonder
The Tower of London - England - ??? Wonder
Mont-Saint-Michel - France - ??? Wonder
Windsor Castle - England - Palatial Wonder
Cluny - France - Religious Wonder
more soon...

A Unique Wonder is what? a Wonder that replaces a exesting one... or it is a new Wonder that only your civ can build?

Thats alot of work for what boils down to a purely cosmetic patch. If you, instead, added a unique wonder for each civ (It would be a national wonder with the power of a World wonder) I could see that being worthwhile.

EDIT: Snipped by Rhye! Hey Rhye, if we can gather enough art for the 24 UWW, would you be able to implement them?

From the list that Toaster started, I like the wonders named. I see a bunch of wonders per civ in some cases. I know it's just brainstorming, but maybe the UW could be related to the UP or the leader traits (that even exist in RFC?).

For Turkey: I don't agree with the Hagia Sophia, since it's already in the game and it was built over a 1000 years before Turkey took over Istanbul...
Better candidates would be the Blue Mosque, or Topkapi Palace.

I'd also like to suggest the Louvre for France (is it in the game alrdy? don't remember...)

Otherwise, good idea, keep'em coming! :goodjob:

China- Great wall (for us vainllia users!)
India-
Eygpt- Sphinx
Grecce- lots to pick form.
Japense-
Persia-Gondeshapur
Rome- Forum
Arabia- Kabba?
Spain- Santiago de Compostela ?
France- magiont Line ?
England-Big Ben
Germany-
Russia- Red square
Mongolia- they didn't build anything!
Inca- machu piccu?
Aztec- Sun pyramid
America- two towers? Golden gate?

just some idea's, post effects later

As I'm NOT doing it for the reason I just said (and I confirm that still there isnt enough stuff), I'll post my temporary list

EGY – Sphinx
IND – Taj Mahal
CHI – Porcelain Tower / Terracotta Army
BAB – Ishtar Gate
GRE – Parthenon
PER – (Mausoleum of Mausollos)
CAR –
ROM – Colosseum
JAP –
VIK –
ARA – Spiral Minaret
SPA –
FRA – Eiffel Tower / Bastille
ENG – Big Ben / Crystal Palace
GER – Brandeburg Gate / Reichstag
RUS - Kremlin
MAL - Sankore
TUR – Hagia Sophia
INC – Temple of Sun/Moon
MON -
AZT –
AME - Pentagon / Rushmore

In brackets wonders that have no art available.

As you can see sometimes standard game wonders are removed. They would be replaced by others, such as the wonder not chosens (where I wrote two possibilities), plus some other stuff such as Sydney Opera House, the Troyan Horse etc.

so if we find or make art we could have UUW's? to the paintbrushes! Your God requires it,lol.

For Carthage you should definitely have the Harbor of Carthage, it was truly a wonder for its time.

Spain could maybe have the Escorial, not sure if thats really a great idea though.

We need Presditigator now to help make some of the graphics!

(Mausoleum of Mausollos)

There is art for this. It's included in the Total Realism mod.

However, I would've chosen the Isfahan complex for Persia.

Correction: It is included in the Alexander scenario in Warloards :) and the Statue of Zeus too.

So, let's work with what we have:

Persia: Mausoleu of Mausollos ( Temple of Artemis )
Greece: Statue of Zeus ( Parthenon )
Egypt: Sphinx ( Stonehenge )
France: Louvre ( Sistine Chappel )
England: Big Ben ( Mount Rushmore )
America: WTC ( Kremlin )

I have graphics for all these, i wil try to find more graphics...
