Imagine all the people...
Sorry.
Imagine what will be the content of a next Civ 4 add-on ?

I think we really need :

- big map, where we can put more than 4 cities an country like france, or germany or england etc.

- more events, revolution, rebellion, immigration, separatism, politic - ethnic - religious - doctrinal - technical diffusion and influence, gain or loose of great people depending on the "attractivity" of your Nation ( free speach or not etc).

- new resource system, that you can take grains or plants or animals where ever you want in the world and take them back to your country or colonies,
or buy them to another Nation (diplomaty), then if geographical conditions are ok (no sugar plants in the north of russia) and consequence=> new abilities for workers : take (vegetables, plants, grains, animals), plant, farm.

- more ethnicaly diversity, including ww1 and ww2.

- Sim city like growing cities,

(i know that's a dream).

- 4 cenarios : colonisation (+-17th cent.), napoleon wars, ww1, ww2.

and whath more ?

How about we include some video game characters in the next civ game? Like one nation might have Sonic and/or Tails as leaders, another might have Robotnik, another might have Knuckles............

It's easy to list stuff. Why don't you figure a way to implement it?

Do i work for firaxis ?
No.
So it's an open list for the gamers, not for programmers.
(but programmers can add some suggestions, may be it won't be the shorter way to do, anyway... )
Sorry for my non-grammatically correct english.
;)

Civ 5 is a long far away dream...
But a new Civ4 add-on will be next.
That's why this thread may be interesting.

I want to say it again, Big realistic maps is needed.
We need Big huge enormous great map and realistic.
More detailed, more beautifull 3D... , not awfull.
More ethnical diversity,
realistic cities and improvments as Sim city 4...

Again, you're not going get to get much feedback from the community or programmers if you don't even attempt to provide an outline on how you suppose we implement these ideas.

I d'on't understand what you say.
Big map everybody know what it is.
New abilities for workers, ...
More events etc.
I'm listing some evolutions as a gamer or consumer.
It's the programmer's job the "how to do".

There are only five things I want.

1. Suleiman the Magnificent (Agg/Org) for the Ottomans.
2. Israel as a nation, with King David as a leader (Spirit/Crtv). This is Hatshepsut's trait combination; she would become Imp/Prot.
3. A Napoleonic Wars scenario.
4. An updated or re-created 1000 AD/Crusades scenario.
5. Byzantium as a nation. Constantine the Great (Spirit/Imp) as a leader, and possibly Basil (Exp/Imp) too.

Everyone knows what needs to be added, its been said dozens of time. What no one has mentioned is how to implement them in a Civilization-themed and balanced way. If you're not going to add any effort into those ideas, then there's no the point of this thread other than a "I wish" list. And there is already a "What do you want for Civilization 5" thread out there.

I dream of high quality 3D...
more realist scale proportions and more detailed 3D for cities, units, improvments, etc.
More geographic diversity graphics, like small mountains, platos, rocky coasts, etc.
transparent water, and real "sun light", who said like "age of empire" ?

The bigger are also too empty...
and much bigger are not playable.
It's a job for firaxis, big realistic maps playable.

Separate Civ IV "vanilla" downloads from those associated with the Warlords (and other) game extensions on your website. It can be quite difficult to determine which downloads apply to what version of the game. I would love to add more Civ's, Wonders, Units, etc. to the basic game, but am reluctant to do so for fear that it will corrupt the game if it requires one of these add-ons in order to function.

Here:

More than two leaders for every major power, it isn't representative if you only have two leaders for US/China/Russia/England/Germany/Italy (Especially Italy, it only has two emperors from the Empire!) Its not THAT hard.

Future technology. Robot warriors, teleport , televangelists, etc.

Espionage: Instate rebellions, propaganda (TV, radio, flyers, etc.), etc.

New Wonders: Sphinx, Empire State Building, Red Square, Parthenon, SETI, CN Tower, etc.

Natural Wonders: Appear on map. Gives tourism bonus to commerce.

More units: Age-specific UUs, Mercenaries, etc.

Bigger maps: You did it with Civ3. :p Enough so I can put about 10 cities and 1 civilization. (50 cities) About 650 tiles for the cities then. :p

Crusades/Jihads: Hey, almost worked in real life. :p

Terrorism: Barbarians become terrorists in modern age. Use suicide bombers, sabotage, bomb, etc.

More governments: Constitutional Monarchy, etc. (Fix environmentalism, make citizens unhappy if building factories, global warming, etc.)

More time: Always ends in 2050 AD? BS.
Start in 6000 BC-3000 AD. Much better.

All I can think of.

The graphics are good enough right now. I see no reason to upgrade them: It'd slow everything down, require more expensive graphics cards, etc, all for something that you won't even notice most of the time (you're playing from a sattelite's-eye-view, so those details tend to be very minor).

If Civ IV gets another patch or expansion, here are a couple things I'd love to see:

- Higher retreat odds for seige weapons so that they are not just weak missiles.

- Add a "reef" resource on coast tiles. Fishing boats can build fishing nets over them in the early game that give bonus food. Naval units that travel over the reef will suffer damage (from scratching the boat against the reef), and naval units and fishing boats/nets will have a risk every turn of inadvertently destroying the reef.

- Change the "forest preserve" to "Nature Reserve". Allow it to be built on desert tiles in addition to forest and jungle tiles with the same effects it has currently. Additionally, if the "reef" resource gets added, a work boat could be used to place a "Nature Preserve" over the reef with the same benefits as over desert, jungle, and forest. A "Nature Preserve" over a reef is cannot be entered by friendly naval units, and "Nature Preserves" have no risk of destroying the reef. Additionally, "Nature Preserves" should add one extra food in tiles that only produce one.

- Add a difficulty level between Warlord and Noble. Playing on Noble can get challenging for me (especially with Raging Barbarians and/or Aggressive AI turned on), and Warlord is too easy (even with Raging Barbarians and/or Aggressive AI turned on).

- Revamp the "Health" mechanic. In the current game, getting unhealthy just decreases food availability and causes starvation, which shrinks the population, and effectively solves its own problem. Instead, cities with higher-than-normal health rates should see an increase in growth (extra food being generated in the city square maybe), and a slight increase in production. Cities that are un-healthy for an extended period of time have a chance of developing a plague which can spread to units and any other cities connected by trade routes and can lead to citizen revolts. Having a sufficiently high health rating could also add additional "Great People" points in that city with the probability of generating a "Great Healer" unit which can be used to construct a "Clinic" building in a city that gives a permanent health bonus, can be used to reasearch medical-related technologies, or can be used to cure a plague (The vaccine of which can then be traded to other civilizations for gold or resources and prevents any Civ that has access to it from suffering from that particular plague). The Red Cross and National Park National Wonders, as well as the Hanging Gardens and an "The Origin of the Species" (available with Biology, giving +1 Health from all research buildings) World Wonders, could add Great Healer points.

- Allow Privateers to upgrade to Submarines.

- Bring back the "Seafaring" trait. Seafaring Civs start with Fishing, always start with their settler on a coast, build Lighthouses and work boats faster, and get a free Strength 1 promotion for all Naval Units,

- Upon completion of the Space Race victory, the player is given the option to load and play "Alpha Centauri". :)
