Blue Marble Terrain has been added, but can be removed by moving/deleting the ViSa_v3\Assets\BlueMarble3.FPK file.

If you currently have ViSa Modpack v2.1 or earlier installed, you DO NOT have to remove it to install ViSa Expansion Pack 3. ViSa Modpack v2.1 can exist with ViSa Expansion Pack 3 without any problems, so the choice is yours if you have some old games or MP to finish, then keep it around.

Previous ViSa v3 will need to be uninstalled....which is easily done via the Start Menu - ViSa Expansion Pack 3 group or via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. This is NOT a patch but a full version only release.

This updated version is NOT save game compatible, so please finish your current game before updating.

Please play with language set to English as full translations to any other language are not fully supported at this time.​


ViSa Expansion Pack 3 Installation and Configuration

Full Version
  1. This mod is contained in an Automatic Installer, run the EXE and follow the directions. If you downloaded from a site that has a ZIP, please unzip then run the Automatic Installer.
  2. The mod now has its own icon to run, so when the Installer is complete just run ViSa from the icon.
  3. The Automatic Installer will clear the cache AND the custom assets directories. So if you have Blue Marble Terrain or some other things in custom assets then you will need to back them up or reinstall after ViSa is installed.
  4. Please use Add/Remove Programs option in the Windows Control Panel to remove ViSa to clear the registry keys. DO NOT delete the ViSa_v3 directory in the Warlords\Mods folder.

ViSa-Component-Control.ini

The Modified Special Domestic Advisor is enabled by default, but ViSa has two other options that are set in the INI listed above that is located in the Warlords\Mods\ViSa_v3 directory.
  1. ViSa Domestic Advisor = Vanilla Domestic Advisor
  2. ViSa Domestic Advisor = Customizable Domestic Advisor
  3. ViSa Domestic Advisor = Modified Special Domestic Advisor

Numerous Mod Comps can be turned on/off either at the start of a game or during a game. This allows players to customize their gaming experience and turn off components that slow Civ down in the late game. These are also in the INI listed above.

MAJOR NOTE on Save Games

The MAF Work-Around by Nev creates TWO SAVE GAME FILES, one in the regular save location and another in the NCSaver directory. Both of these files are required to load a save and thus both must be copied/uploaded when giving another player your save game.

This does NOT affect MP in v3.20 because we have turned off the NCSaver in MP only.

Lastly, the NCSaver directory never gets emptied, so it can grow rather large (my two test computers were both near 4GB worth of files in the NCSaver directory) so it is suggested to clean it our periodically.

NCSaver directory is in \My Games\Warlords\Saves\NCSaver

Languages besides English can cause errors throughout the game. Our recommendation is to play ViSa in English only.

ATI Video Cards can cause numerous problems with this mod and vanilla Civ as well. Our recommendation is for all ATI people to download the latest video drivers without Catalyst.

Note: it is highly recommended that you reinstall warlords and civ to the default directories "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords" on your computer.

Well 56kb modem is 7KB/SEC.....so our 50KB/SEC is just a BIT faster....

And as I have posted in our Dev Forum, more alternative sites coming and at least one is already up....we are uploading to 2 others right now.

What do you think about this? Lacking strategic resource will make AI use old units. This way it will be easy to beat.

Resources were adjusted and reduced yes.

It is your call though. I have fixed this to suit my point of view :)

The AI is not weak and all this does is create some challenge in getting the resources you or the AI need....if you don't like it please post in the Suggestion thread....

Even after 3 months of testing I can't say the Expansion Pack is perfectly balanced...especially not for 1000's of individual tastes...so further tweaking will occur. But so far in over 100 test games it has been tougher on Noble.
 
MAJOR NOTE on Save Games

The MAF Work-Around by Nev creates TWO SAVE GAME FILES, one in the regular save location and another in the NCSaver directory. Both of these files are required to load a save and thus both must be copied/uploaded when giving another player your save game.

This also appears to make loading MP games difficult/impossible so we will be looking into a solution soon.

Lastly, the NCSaver directory never gets emptied, so it can grow rather large (my two test computers were both near 4GB worth of files in the NCSaver directory) so it is suggested to clean it our periodically.

NCSaver directory is in \My Games\Warlords\Saves\NCSaver

The minimum is set to 512MB instead of 256MB....so anybody with 512MB can install and play it. My guess is the couple people with problems have shared video ram....and the code is in the MS Installer, not anything the ViSa Team has done.
 
I have 512 MB, but your installer maybe reads the actual free ram, so I can't install your mod. I don't have shared video RAM, I have a separate graphic card. I'll try, though, to turn off all my accessory programs and start installer again.

Didn't work.
Last hope, before I go and get some chips, the whole mod can be unpacked by RAR, but do you have the scheme of folders, if it's possible to do it that way?
 
I already asked mrgenie about this and the installer is set for 512MB by Microsoft code....not sure what we can change but we will get something done so those of you with 512MB RAM can install it.
