LINESII has, over the course of the last few updates, grown into a mammoth operation. Updates are taking me massive amounts of time. I have a diagnosed speed processing disability, which is probably the main reason.

I'd like to live on weekends again- write stories for other NESes (things that most of you will note as being nearly non-existant).

I love this NES, and of course it will continue. But what its future will be is up to you. I'm frankly terrified as I post this, I can imagine many of you being furious at me (and the fact that several of you know more about me than I'm comfortable with), particularly this:
North King said:
I would NEVER join another LINES, and I would hope no one else could.

Here are the possibilities:

1. Continue LINESII- I can continue doing it, and we will regard Jalapeno's statement as nonexistant, as well as all of this discussion. LINESII will continue as it is, but I will have to radically ramp down the quality.

2. LINESII continues in Space- DON'T KILL ME! Listen first. JD's statements are true, and backed up by a far greater technology. The Sky Gods are real, they are beings from another world (*dodges tomato). For several centuries they have observed this world, at first out of minor curiosity, then out of active interest. Over time, they grow lethargic, but some see the horrors of this world and vow to end them. They then are discovered by the Citadel (who found one of their people landed on Tellus), and devise... this plan.

Once the world has agreed to live together in peace (not submit to a global government), technology would rapidly advance under extratellustrial tutelage, and this NES would move into space. People could continue their nations in space, or become an alien power... whatever they'd want.

The NES would be more story-based than rule based.

Just so you know, this has been planned since the beginning of the NES. But if there is too much hatred of the idea, I'll chuck this plan.

3. "I'm fine with the Space NES, but for goodness' sake, don't warp this wonderful NES into it. End it and start a new one."

4. You can't stand to see any of these. "Keep this great thing as it is! Death to the idiotic/unrealistic/expletive aliens. If you can't keep up LINESII, end it as it is, run far far away, and NEVER RETURN!"

I would say continue LINESII. But not in space. I believe you when you say it's been planned since the beginning...but it's so exceedingly lame, is the problem...and to think, all this as I was about to join. :p

...you planned... that?

Iggy, I'm going to retreat to a fortified bunker and cry. Seriously.

As much as I hate it when people act as if it matters whether they saw something coming, the aliens visiting as Sky Gods was fairly obvious to anyone who sat down and thought about it (as I did, given that I was ruling a Divotheist nation). I only point this out in defense of your decision to have them in the game now, not to pride myself on some clever ability of foresight.

I, for one, think this is a lunatic, completly crazy, entirely absurd idea that I wholeheartedly support. I mean, there has to be some fallout and lots of chaos with culture shock and everything, but I think this is a fun twist to the normal NES.

Now, I will say that some people might not enjoy this idea because they envisioned LINESII as one of the greats that makes it from fresh start to future age on pure stamina, in normal time, but I think this idea might be fun. Plus a space NES is a pleasant change.

Whatever you decide to do, Iggy, I will support. You're the mod, after all.

I will join a space NES continuation of LINES II, obviously. I'd also join a new fresh start.

@NK- I'm trying to do this and hurt as few people as possible. If you don't like it (I expect a lynching mob to join up against me soon) just vote no.

hee. well, considering I was planing an arc concerning a partially intact spaceship at the bottom of the bay of kernal (and I have placed two hints to it), once we hit the industrial age, sounds good to me!

I will join a space NES continuation.

All in all, though, it's up to you. :P

I kinda like the idea of LINESII in space...in a morbid, sick way.

I support the first option. I am fine with going to space eventually but I prefer going through history to arrive there.

Lowered qualities of updates are fine with me. You have a life but you have an awesome story. If you cannot continue do not destroy it as the space plan sort of ruins the NES in my opinion. If you do a space NES you should just completely start over perhaps losely based on LINES fast forwarded into the future not some aliens advancing our peoples.

If you go with the space option but don't want to use a gate-network or some similar such thing, come talk to me, as I have some ideas that would be of use (you've mentioned this before quite awhile ago).

Oh, and Iggy, you will need a Star Wars-esque entrance to the new NES. It's a perequisite.

Not sure, end the NES cleanly. (without the space stuff; thus with a different prespective)

Then start your NEW nes with the space perspective (and in the first page describe the history since a certain PoD). Simply put, create a sci-fi PoD for your NES.

I'm planning something along the lines of an Alcubierre drive, though I'm considering hyperdrive.

Don't worry, no gates.

What do you mean by that?

I could just put LINESII on hold for a while to do a space NES. Though I've already drawn out a starmap for LINESII... this could be set in an althistorical future of the same Universe.

Boo. I get one update?

Moving this into space will be rediculous. I doubt I'll join.

I do, however, encourage everyone to join my own NES which is coming out soon, and will be another non-earth random world fresh start :p

Sorry Iggy, but I'd rather you ended the NES. Rather than keep it on hold.

But you get my general idea, a sci-fi PoD :D

Just an observation, but fast forwards don't seem to work very well.

Given that the plurality is voting for space, I'm afraid my tenure as an NESer has ended. If people come to their senses, I may return.

Agreed, it's horribly "lame". There has never been a compelling space NES and never will be. People seem to have this delusion that things continue to be interesting... but they don't, at all.

I need a fast forward so that my nation doesn't die.

But don't tell anybody that. >_>

just keep modding and i am happy... but i would rather LINESII continue, its the only NES i can connect with, even if its in space
