Calling All Unposted Graphics!

UNITS, CITIES, BUILDINGS, TECHS AND WONDERS...

There's a whole world of graphics out there that aren't posted - at least not in the normal places

I tend to scour Civfanatics for all custom graphics, and I thought I'd found them all. But one thing I didn't do is go through every Mod. Then I found out how many graphics are out there in all the different Mods.

For example, it took some doing, but I finally got my hands on an old copy of the Anno Domini mod. In it I found plenty of units and other graphics that I hadn't seen before -


Athenian Swordsman Unit


Some kind of funky Ancient Board Game


Highland Clans Wonder Splash

This is just one Mod, and while I've found plenty of other graphics by cannibalizing the Mods I've come across - but I'm sure there are more out there.

What we can do about it...

I'll post the graphics that I find, and I ask that everyone else do the same. Whether you were the one that made the graphic or not, post them here, and more people can get to them without sorting through other files.

When you post, make sure to try to credit the makers.

Like me . Please don't post my graphics - I was planning to post some once my mod is out.

Quite right - you shouldn't post something without the creator's permission, unless perhaps they've been inactive for a long time.

That is Senate. I think that is how it is spelled, but it could be no 'e'. It was an Ancient Egyptian boardgame that was very popular in its time. I played it once, it was very good.

I played it in Tomb Raider 4 - quite fun.

The board game is actually called "senet".

Well, Senet, Senate. Who cares? It is pronounced the same way, and is very similar in spelling.
P.S. I knew that I spelled it wrong somehow, I just wasn't sure exactly how.

Me . In this day and age there's far too few people who care about basic things such as the correct spelling of words.

My earlier post was kind of sarcasm. Notice that in my first post I noticed that I probably misspelled it, I just wasn't sure how. I try to spell things right, but if I don't know it, I say that I don't know, and write down what I think it is.

Jesus people, just call it Chess or something, and give it a rest!

Can someone upload the re-colored wyverns from the Mystara mod by TJedge1? The mod is his, not sure the wyvern`s are. And also other recolors, like from Master of Myrror (berserker for instance) might be usefull to someone.. I don`t have those mods anymore after reinstalling Civ, and I`m not sure I`ll DL them again, so this would be helpfull.

Second that. Call me conservative, but I see our western culture slowly but surely self-destruct with indifference and decadence. The correct spelling of words is just a basic example of being intuned with culture and heritage.

OK, OK, mea culpa

I'm not looking to step on anyone's toes here, especially not those that are busy at work making things . That's why I haven't followed up with any postings.

But seriously, we need something. We have new members joining Civfanatics every day, and old members coming back. There's such a wealth of resources here, most of which aren't that hard to find. Whether by combing through the Artist libraries, finding things done by one artist or another, or simply going through the unit and graphics forums - you can usually find what's out there.

Mods are another story. Not only are they often huge, but there are so many mods out there - 469 threads with God knows how many gigs of data. And since they are usually posted offsite, you have cases where you can no longer DL them because a site is inactive or has been closed for one reason or another.

I've recently tried DLing various mods and going through the files to find new graphics. TALK ABOUT A PAIN IN THE... But not only is this an extreme timesuck, I'm pretty sure I don't have a computer big enough to hold them all.

It would seem reasonable that we could at least gather an index listing the custom graphics that are included in Mods (and not in other forums) so that we not only let people know that these things are out there, but also encourage them to DL the mod and try it out.

How does that sound?

I looked into it Stormy, and it turns out the Wyvern was made by our very own embryodead, with color conversions by Drift. The units can be found here. And for those who are looking for the Mod itself, Recon reposted it on the 'Storm over Civ' forum here(he's good at that ).

Sorry about the Senet/Senate brouhaha. Notice how I skillfully avoided misspelling it by referring to it as the 'funky Ancient Board Game'.

Thanks! I knew it was ed`s, but I didn`t know the recolors were posted in that thread too.

That would be very cool, if you posted what mods had what, and how to get to them. It would help a lot to everyone. It would be very nice.
