First of all I would like to thank Rocoteh for making a scenario as great as WW2 Global.
This is a mod I did of WW2 Global that now starts in May 1940 just before the German panzer divisions overran France.
Rocoteh has asked me to start a new thread for my 1940 version so I have.

Instructions to install the graphics.

First you will need to download WW2 global.

Then you will need to download these 5 graphics files.

If you do not have a program to extract RARs here is a link to such a program.

[Before you start it is advised that you make a backup of the WW2-Global folder.]
Now extract the files.
Place them in the units folder for WW2-Global
WW2-Global\Art\Units . When it asks you if you want to overwrite say yes to all.

Now download the new text folder.

The no city raze patch is HIGHLY recommended with this scenario.

Disclaimer.
The no raze patch works with civ complete, but if you installed conquests over vanilla civ 3 the patch does not work. If you install a "no CD patch" then the no raze patch works with conquests installed over vanilla civ 3.
Since the legality of a "no CD patch" is in question I will not encourage or give instruction of how to locate a "no CD patch".

Here is the evolution of this scenario.
Started with WW2 Global 2.4.
I started modifying that scenario.
1.[Tweaked Libya] Put 1 Fortress unit in Tripoli. Moved the Fortress unit in Tobruk to Benghazi.
Gave Tobruk a barracks and city walls. Added Tripoli Wonder with air trade to get oil to Italy.[Moved the Libya oil into Tripoli.]

2.[Cut cities and added cities also renamed a few] Cut the following cities to free up slots.[ Puerto Acre,Olenek,Vorkuta,Nordvik ,Norilsk, Fort Chipewyart, Broken Hill, Gao, Teffe, and Verchojansk.]
Added the following cities [ Midway,Carajas,Norfolk,Wilmington, Cebu,Charleston, Palau,Wake,Tarawa,Dunquerque,Cherbourg,Dover, and Thessaloníki. Renamed [Soloman Islands to Guadalcanal, Radom to Krakow , Bagdad to Baghdad , Namur to Bastogne, and Kuweit to Basra]

3.[Tweaked Air forces] 2 ME 109s to Yugoslavia. 2 ME 109s to Switzerland . 2 ME 109s to Romania. 1 ME 109 to Hungary.
1 ME 109 to Bulgaria. Replaced Spain's Fighter and bombers with 1 ME 109 and 2 HE 111s. 1 Fighter to the Netherlands.
1 Gladiator to Belgium. 1 Gladiator to Greece. 1 Gladiator in Egypt. 1 Gladiator in Iraq. 2 I15s to natl china 1 to commie china.

4.[BEF]Added an accurate representation of the initial BEF that was created on 22nd February 1939 and deployed on the outbreak of war to France. Moved 4 Brit Infantry 1939 from UK to Dunquerque. Added 1 Brtish tank Brigade to represent the force of 50 light tanks. Also moved 1 flak and 1 artillery from the UK to Dunquerque. Added 2 Gladiators in Dunquerque. Added 4 Hurricanes to Dunquerque.

5.[Timed War triggers] Added new unit called declare war invisible and imolble def 1 atk 0. This will have a controlled sub bug effect. The timed war triggers.[Germany vs Russia week 87 aka june 15. Germany vs Norway Denmark week 33 aka April 9 1940. War v Yugoslavia week 79 war v Greece week 81]

6.[Tweaked Poland]1 Light tank to Poland 1 sub to Poland. Named all the polish ships.

7.[Victory locations]Added victory locations in Manila,Cebu,Davao,Palau,Tarawa,Palembang,Batavia,
Singapore,Wake,Midway,Tunis,Tripoli,Benghazi,Tobru k,Alexandria,Cairo,Suez,Gibraltar.
Hong Kong,Portsmouth,Palermo,Malta,Casablanca,London,Cherbourg,Algiers,Banjarmasin,Makassar,Naples,Plymouth,Oslo,Dunquerque,and Paris.
THE VICTORY LOCATIONS WILL HAVE NICE EFFECT ON THE AI.

8.[Terrain tweaks]Unlandlocked Philadelphia,Anchorage, and Riga. Cut off
the tip of Dennmark @X194Y50 so Sweden cant block the way to Norway.

9.[German tweaks] Germany cant produce 88s Cologne wonder auto produces them every 4 turns.
Uped cost of German Security Division from 35 to 40. Got rid of German Flamethrower.
Got rid of the me262s Lethal land bombardment flag. Added Ju 87D.

10.[Worker option tweaks]GOT RID OF PLANT/CLEAR FOREST, CLEAR JUNGLE, and RAILROAD.Got rid of Radar towers

11.[British tweaks]British mines in the straits of Dover.Added British Outposts on the Shetland Islands north of Scapa Flow.
US airbase in UK. Put 1 fortress in each of the coastal British Air bases.[To Stop marine attack to destroy planes]
A few misc tweaks around Dunkirk.
Mosquito Lethal land bombardment.


12.[Flak]Cost of Flak uped by 1
00 to 250.[This is to represent the large investment needed to make large amounts of AAA.]

13.[Mines]Mines get 20 HP bonus AI will not charge them.

14.[Misc]Added mines west of Malmo so Sweden cant attack Copenhagen. Hungary Infantry @X205Y85 is owned by Germany I fixed that now owned by Hungary. Got rid of 1 cattle 25 North of Freiburg and 1 NW of Stuttgart.[There is too much food in this Area.]

15.[French tweaks] Moved French oil to Algeria. Algiers Wonder now has air trade.
Added Char B1 bis. Victory location in Brest.

16.[Thailand] Thailand is part of the Axis.

17.[American tweaks] Added some forests around New Orleans to increase production.
Added some forests in Florida. Added P-40 Warhawk.
F4F Wildcat(F) attack lowered to 8.
P38 Lethal land bombardment. P51 Range now 12.


18.[Finland tweaks] Added fortress Terrain improvements to help Finland's defense.

19.[Late war and early post war Jet fighters]Added the P80,Meteor,and MIG9.[Note in the biq I use the ME262 graphics for
all of these but you can get the graphics for these from TCW.

20.Got rid of off shore oil rigs they provided unrealistic production.

21.[Soviet tweaks]Russia can make P39s
Mig3 range lowered to 8.

22.[Italian tweaks]German Air base with 1 fortress & 2 Special fortress in Sicily. Added German Air base with 1 fortress & 2 Special fortress in Libya. Added German Air base with 2 Special fortress in Northern Italy.

23.[China tweaks]Added a US air base near Kunming with 1 fortress & 2 Special fortress.

24.[Islands tweaks]Got rid of Fish around Malta. Got rid of fish and whales around Dutch Harbor.Also replaced some of the coast around Dutch Harbor with seas.

25.[Romania tweaks] German Air base with 1 fortress & 2 Special fortress in Romania.

26.[Dutch tweaks]Moved Dutch Infantry into the cities.

27.[FIGHTER TWEAKS]Cut out the bombard flag for many fighters.

28.[Bugs Fix] Gave Swordfish the Bombard AI flag.
Gave RU I-15 Defense flag.Cut the anti aircraft battery out of Koln.

Then I decided to set the scenario in May 1940 so then I made these Changes and retitled it Fall Gelb.

Germany
Deleted all German army units replaced them with the units Germany had on may 1940.
I think army groups A & B are done right.
Norway has all the right land units I think but they may be misplaced.
I'm 99% sure the 2 Divisions in Denmark are OK.
As for Army group C the garrisons next to the Maginot Line represent it.
As for Eastern front units named some of them but left most of them unnamed.
The German reserve divisions I left unnamed and spread them out.
Added some KM ships & U boats.
As for the Luftwaffe it is the same as 1939 I just moved it around. And added a few fighters and a few air units in Norway.
Moved a few KM ships around.
Italy
Moved some units to Albania.
Great Britain
Added some RN ships and moved a few around.
Added the BEF as it was in May 1940.

Added the Wasp.

The reason for all the Reserved posts is I plan to upload a bunch of screen shoots and have a detailed history of the evolution of this scenario.
 
Here is a list of things I could use feedback on.

1.Cutting South America and many irrelevant cities in Canada/Australia/Africa/Russia.

2.Making tanks more expensive.

3.Making Iraq independent and setting up a war trigger in 1941 to have the Anglo-Iraqi war.

4.Suggestions on units that you think should be added.

5.Suggestions on cities that you think should be added.
 
Personally, I think there are too many cities in the US. Australia should be independant. (I think) Canada should be too. Also Spain became fascist because of Germany, so maybe they should join the Axis.

I also think you should make 2 spin offs. D-day Normandy invasion, and Operation Sealion (Germany's ditched plan to take over Britain)
 
Spain should most certainly not join the Axis. It was neutral, and should stay so. Anything different is a bridge too far - a distortion of reality above and beyond the cause of game mechanics.

The Dominions should remain under the banner of the Empire. That is what gave Britain a lot of her strength in the war.

I do not think a separate scenario is required for any examination of Mythical Ocean Cat.

I do not believe South America should be cut. It is one thing to trim unnecessary cities which do not have any utility in the game anymore. It is something else entirely to remove an entire continent from play. If anything, their role can be raised - the prospect of a fascist Argentina is an interesting one, particularly in combination with other factors. There is simply too much potential to sacrifice.

Tanks were expensive, but balance has to be maintained.

Iraq was a sideshow, and a minor one at that. It was not independent, and should not be. Action towards Persia has enough potential for this theatre. We should not let current happenstance cloud our view of the past.

Units: A whole lot of types, many from Wyrmshadows recent inclusions.
The Sovetskiy Soyuz would be a nice touch for the Soviets. I'll add a list later.

Cities: I am still a bit iffy about the US base on the south coast of Britain.
A potential path to take is to add a Polish base up in Scotland, give Iceland to Denmark/Norway.

Keep on the notion of expanding the Germans in the Med. A series of Afrika Korps small wonders could be interesting.

This scenario can really test some ideas on how to get the Atlantic fired up.
 
My theory on the American Base in southern England.
That a US City Close to Europe will make the American AI to be more likely to Get involved in Europe. It is my hope the AI will attack France from that base.
It needs to be tested more to see if the AI will use it in that way.
If it does not then I will cut it.

Spain. It will stay neutral. In 1.5 I gave Spain a historical ORBAT so it will be harder for the Axis/Allies to attack it.

On the whole Free Poland / Free Norway/Denmark thing.
Maybe have Poland & Norway/Denmark own their cities and have the Germans poised out side to take them over.
Though I do not know what practice impact the Free cities would have on the game other than resistance in Poland & Norway/Denmark.
But the downside is Germany may use some of the Luftwaffe to bomb the cities owned by Poland & Norway/Denmark before they take them.

On the German Forces I was thinking of making all their Panzer Divisions PzKpfw 3s and making them elite to help the AI.

On tanks I do not think a 20-25% increase in cost will make it unbalanced.

I was thinking about adding German units for Finland,Hungary,Romania,Bulgaria,and Italy.
They would need to import Germany to produce a unit and a unit would cost 100% more.

On the battle of the Atlantic were you thinking of something like what AOI has?
 
At a minimum. Add in a terrain restriction/fleet in being trick (as detailed by oneself on the other thread and at the other site), victory points, and even some use of trade and resources, as is done in SOE.

Convoy units, carrying troops and a 'material' units (don't know if they AI would use this...there was some mention of something similar in the Hinge of Fate thread); convoy units, carrying the AOI style treasure; and the need to keep sea lanes open. That will force the player to cater to the Atlantic.

Also: Autoproducers in Canada or some other means of Lend Lease. Don't want to turn Canada into a tank factory, though.

The Americans will attack from that base, and probably quicker than without it. This could well lead to piecemeal attacks. The American AI also tends to make a run for Sardinia quite often.

German imports sound good.

The Free Polish would be a 'military base city' up in Scotland, beyond the range of German land forces, where the exiles could be built up. If it doesn't work in testing, then a little set up can be created giving the British Empire a technology to build a Polish Forces wonder, as well as a few prematurely ahistorical units.

Norway/Denmark: It keeps their fleet in the game, and that could include a great number of merchant ships. It is not of great consequence, but gives a bit of a role to Iceland, and may heat up the Atlantic battle.

A means of simulating the Vichy/Free French divide would be very good, but best left for a scenario after Fall Gelb.

Having a go at reworking the tech tree might be interesting...

Cities: I tend to keep Broome, Broken Hill (very big mineral deposits, can be made quite important) Prince Albert and Wolf Bay. Sosnovka as well.
Marsa Mutrah is a good addition, although naming it El Alamein has a certain charm to it.

Why do you think they should not be cut?
I think are right about Broome the Aussies need a port on the West coast.
 
Broken Hill was a very important mining and minerals centre. The silver, lead, zinc and tin found there provided the money to bring Australia into the industrial age. By the 1930s, there was steel work there. It can serve as a source of resources to build aircraft and land equipment.
Wolf Bay provides both a port, and a base whereby aircraft can be rebased across the Atlantic. I'd change its name to Goose Bay, though, and shift it to match that location.

Prince Albert provides a railway and potential manufacturing base.

Sosnovka provides a naval base and opportunity for expansion by the Soviet Navy. It is also a commanding location. It's no Molotovsk or Severomorsk, but it is a start.

i really like some adjustments you have made so far.
And i wonder...
There are so many great ideas, wouldn't it be better to make two versoins of this scenario: one axis and one allies.
I'm saying this because you can make the allie experience much more realistic or difficult and via versa!!

It's just an idea, for the rest i really like what you are doing

Nice job of releasing what I think most long timers already do, (tweak the infamous and legendary Rocotech's scenario), which gives a real interesting and exciting experience to many of us who have played this scenario over and over (not to its death, as this scenario is simply the best and replayable.)

I have not downloaded yet (I only get about 2 hrs a day playing timer, and never seem to complete a game, almost always play germany I usually peter out in late 1940/early 1941 when I'm poised outside of Cairo in the middle east and taking moscow-stalingrad line, not much to stop germans after that, only prolong the inevitable or I play USA (the building game) or UK (surviving game). I have experimented with many combos (taking germany out of alliance, adding soviets to allies (which speeds things up as they can achieve conquest victory quite quickly), etc....

I agree with many suggestions, all you can do is make it an historically accurate start. (therefore no Spain alliance, keeping commonwealth one nation (remember that the UK controlled what/where/who of the AUS, NZ, Indian, Canadian forces, also Iraq, Iran, Greece, Eygpt were all unhappy "members" of the UK Empire, but really never fought them, so I wouldn't make them independent, they were biding their time to see which "way the wind blew" before joing Axis and having a coup). Also the auto build wonders are very good, I would make the few UK wonders all autobuilders with some great flavor unit options: canadian, anzac, gurkha, indian, south african,commando etc....none of them are very powerful after 1940 or so but provide good defense and "garrison" types.

I like the idea of "stimulating" the AI with the US base in the UK, UK troops on the mainland, (sometimes I find the only way you can do this is to build a "Landline": i.e. a landlink w/roads from canada to UK, or US to Australia, or UK to norway, sometimes the AI will move ships, transport troops all around the globe as opposed to attacking/defending what is closest.)

I think we get so set on the Germans being upstoppable in the beginning and tend to forget that it was the size and growth/building ability of the soviets/u.s. that really slowed and killed them. But when AI is german they tend to get trounced earlier.

Can you tell me if this scenario is downloaded and uploaded thwe same way? To Conquests scenarios folder, with/without text file?

Look forward to it and sounds like you have done a ton of work on it, can't wait!
