Gamespot Preview (May 25, 2007)

We went about a month with only a couple of interviews and now we're getting continuous updates. I wish they had spread all the information out over the course of the last month so that there'd been time to absorb all ot the information.

"Byzantium" officially named, so no third Rome leader.

"All of your espionage points go into a pool, and you can then open up the new espionage screen to use those points to spy or conduct sabotage on rival civilizations." -> there's even a special screen

"including ninjas, which are the early-game spies" -> Ninja's!

"random events are back in the core game, and there are more than 100 of them"

Good luck trying to sort through the five or so articles that came out in the last two days Methos!

EDIT: Ninjas. Awesome.

Damn. That was the first piece of new information and I instantly hoped it was all conjecture but the rest of the article makes it unlikely.

Thanks. I thought I'd do a quick scan to see if there was anything else and wham! Hahaha. Oh well, it just gets me more anxious for the release!

MORE THAN 100 RANDOM EVENTS!?

That's absolutely amazing!

Ninjas, eh? Diplomatic marriages (a la Marie Antoinette)? I give kudos to Firaxis for certainly coming up with some pretty non-traditional civ ideas.

Thanks for the post, Methos. You are my hero.

No information about any new traits. Well , i still I hope there are new traits but for some reason firaxis is very discreet.

Go check out the pictures, that came with the article. Pericles is in! :D

Finally a levelheaded leader in control of Greece. Now we just need someone to replace Isabella and Montezuma and I could get through a game without getting stabbed in the back..

Did you notice this statement:

But there's also a new "great spy" unit, which has abilities just like the other great leaders, and these are totally invisible, even to other spies.

Great Spies are invisible to all units, including other spies! I'm curious if they're invisible to other Great Spies?

Except we are running out of leader spots! I wish Abe were out so that they could have balanced another current civ better, but what's done is done. I am happy about Pericles though. Alex was an idiot, and so are Izzy and Monty. Tokugawa is also on the chopping block. Which one gets it remains to be seen.

In the article, the author says that new civs include Native American Tribes

That gives me hope that the Sioux and the Iriquios are both in, rather than the native Americans as a whole. It could mean the opposite, but he would have said "New civs include Native Americans, Netherlands," etc.

I disagree, Waffles. I think this all but confirms that they will be lumped into one civ named "Native American Tribes". Otherwise, he would've listed them separately.
