Civilization Revolution Trailer!

So what kind of game is this?

A civ where you can also play as a fps?
Choose a sword or gun?

I haven't got a clue, actually. Does anybody else know some more?

Some more info from what reads like a press release from Firaxis:
Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is a watershed game, offering players a chance to experience the empire-building world of Civilization in an all new accessible, visually immersive, and action-packed world specifically designed for the console and handheld gamer. Delivering Civilization's epic single-player campaigns featuring vast re-playability and unmatched addictive gameplay as well as revolutionary features like real-time interaction with leaders and advisors, extensive multiplayer capabilities and integrated video and voice chat, it will completely transport the Civilization series to a level of gameplay that fans have never seen before.

Some of the key features that will resonate with fans of strategy games and the Civilization franchise include 16 civilizations to master and lead to victory, an array of famous historical leaders to play as or compete against, and accessible maps and streamlined time scale for quicker games, intense combat, and constant action. In online multiplayer mode, players will compete for world conquest and glory among their peers as they battle in teams, head-to-head or epic free-for-all matches. In addition, auto-matching, ranked games, leaderboards, achievements, downloadable extra content and integrated video and voice chat make the online play more versatile and fun than any previous version of Civilization and will allow players to see where they stand against the competition. Finally, the position of ruler of the world can be settled online.

That's still pretty vague, but it seems like the game will be a simplified version of civ. The announced changes and new features indicate that the game will be mainly aimed towards short multiplayer matches.

Could be cool but the details are pretty vague as previously stated. We'll see.

Well portable online multiplayer diplomacy seems like fun.

Stalin FTW!

I don't think turn based games will do well on consoles.

I know a couple of people who got into the Civ franchise through playing Civ2 on the PS1. There's hope :)

That said, a handheld Civ would be awful. An addiction to Civ is one thing, but at least you could leave it behind when you left the house!

Hopefully it'll be better than Civ4.

So far, the way i see it, this might be just Civ5 for PS3 - they left out the "5" because few game producers like making games with high numbers. Aparently it makes kids think it's an old game and shouldn't bother playing it ... :crazyeye:

Yea, who buyed Final Fantasy 12 or Dragon Quest VIII anyway? I'm sure Halo 3 will flop as well, 3 is a crowd after all :p

Stupid companies.

This looks interesting though. I will not buy a PS3 for it though.

I was talking about games whose target groups are not sub-cultures. :p

And for the record, one of the reasons i didn't play FF7 is because of that 7 in the end. I thought "i can't start playing from the 7th game without knowing the whole story". The other big reason was the target sub-culture of the game.

Anyway, we're already drifting offtopic and we're not even on page 2. :p

Clearly, Firaxis has the younger players in mind.

First of all, the breasts are al ittle too big for my liking.

Second, but most importantly.

ANNOREXIC IS NOT AN ATTRACTIVE LOOK

The console crowd needs this kind of thing to keep them interested.
