Civ4 patch 1.74 is released

new patch for civ 4 is out incase anybody cares.

This is the Changenotes:

# Cossack gets only 25% bonus versus mounted
# Can no longer upgrade Marines and SAM Infantry to Mech Infantry
# Fixed MP Retire crash
# MP - Can no longer bypass the delay timer
# Pitboss fix for the bug where you would not get the free tech from the Oracle if you were not online
# Fixed forced specialist bug
# Fixed bug preventing AI from building ICBMs
# Fixed exploit allowing you to build unique unit of a different civ by saving it in your build queue from a different game
# Game no longer crashes when you load a save with the diplomacy screen open
# First strike combat bug fix
# Fixed transported unit gifting bug
# Fixed pop-rush rounding bug
# Widescreen Laptop video resolution 1280x720 is supported
# Fixed multiple missions exploit from the same Great Person

You may need to install the latest version of directx 9.0c. Get it here.

Go to the main menu, and hit "advanced" then "check for updates".

Failing that, install Beyond The Sword.

Why the patch? Is it for non-BtS purchasers to at least fix some C4 bugs?

Most of the stuff there are changes that was done in previous patches.. not new from 1.61 -> 1.74 and 2.08 -> 2.13

Ran Civ4, updated to 1.74 just fine.
Ran Warlords, updated fine to 2.13, but then when I goto run the game I get this error:
D3DX9_32.DLL not found, re-installing the application may fix the problem.

Have reinstalled 2x, same error.

Not sure where to proceed to next. :confused:

Have you got the latest version of 9.0c? Every few months, Microsoft makes an update to 9.0c, but doesn't bother to actually change the version number. But you do need to install the 'latest' 9.0c to actually get the patch to work.

I have exactly the same problem as Montana Mike, except I don't have the warlords expansion pack. I've installed Direct X 9.0c, do I need to re-install and patch again while I have direct X 9.0c? I'll give that a go and if it doesn't work i'll let you know.

The newest Direct X 9.0C was released about 10 days ago. The URL can be found here:

This was the problem, and now Warlords runs just fine.

It seems odd they didn't retrofit vanilla with all the AI improvements from Warlords and (supposedly) BTS ... at least it's not listed as a change ... that would help out the vanilla game immensely ...

Yes, unless the save is locked (or admin password protected)
