Hello! To any BSG fans out there (RDM version) :)

I'm not new to the Civ Series, but am new to modding Civilization, although I'm pretty well known in the simcity community for 3d modelling and to a certain extent modding.

What I've so far read about the modding capabilities of the game has intrigued me, with the new expansion pack, even more.

I haven't even recieved the expansionpack in the post yet,but took the plunge and modded the demo a bit!

I think i'll makethe emblem a little brighter though, since the "hologram" effect seems to darken images alot more than i initially realised.

In terms of ships and units, i have a backlog of models i can use. But I do fear the leader heads quite abit. (I plan to make Roslin the leader).

I believe that adding Cylons, will make this mod that much greater too.

Very cool, I look forward to your modmod. I've played a couple games of the demo since I can't wait for the game. For the FF mod I think it would be cool to have cylons as the barbarians (just for flavor).

Since you've modded the demo do you know how it can be modded for quick speed? I changed settings in the ini file but it resets when I start the game. I'd like to be able play a full FF game while I am stuck waiting for my copy of BtS.
 
I've been thinking about a SciFi mod in general as well lately, based on the few games I played in Final Frontier (which really impressed me)..

Essentially, almost any Science Fiction show can be made into a mod now, with Final Frontier as a basis.. Star Trek, Star Wars, definitely Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, and so on and so forth..

While I'm not a particularly big fan of the old Battlestar Galactica, there is still the possibility of including the old ships (for both sides) as early units, whereas the ships in the new BSG could be the updated models..

I for one am really looking forward to any SciFi mods that'll be released in the future and I hope there will eventually be one big SciFi mod in which you could pick unusual combinations such as the Klingon vs. the Rebel Alliance vs. the Cylons..

Oh, and you might want to consider changing the bomber squadron to the 'new' Vipers and the fighter squadrons to the 'old' Vipers (the ones that appear in the new show). Just my two cents here.. ;)

Also, in terms of a leaderhead, I understand your choice for Laura Roslin, but personally I prefer Adama.. But that may just be me.. :D

I was actually thinking of making the Cylons as another AI/Playable Civ. Barbarianswould work though. :D

Iwould actually love to do a Farscape, or to be more exact: Peacekeeper mod. I loved those guys in Farscape, they hada certain ominous and terrifying pace about them.

LOL, I know, I know. It jut seemed the most logical. Buti admit that Adama would make a frakking good leader two. Perhaps two leaderheads? ;)

That would be cool to have both Adama and Roslyn as leaders for the civ.
Different personalities, different traits.

Ooh, how about the Reavers from Firefly / Serenity for the barbarians? :cool:

I thought they were pretty ominous in the show, but in the film they were brutal!

By the way, I'm still trying to learn stuff about how to mod this game, so if there's any way I can help out, I'd be more than happy to do so..
 
Final Frontier really has blown open the doors to all us sci fi fanatics to start modding like crazy!!!! Personally I got the idea to make a Stargate Atlantis mod based primarily on the events of Season 3 with maybe some aspects of SG-1 Season 10 drifting in there. Orai vs Wraith.... possibilities are endless :)

I'm a noob when it comes to any kind of modding, coding etc etc, I want to stick around for a while and learn as much as I can before I get started on my rather ambitious mod :) My specialities when it comes to civ are primarily with testing for balance because I play a lot of multiplayer.

Not a fan of BSG personally, but looks like it could make an interesting mod :)
 
You definitely have a talent and I for one cannot wait to see this completed, I am a huge BSG fan and nothing would please me more than to play this mod...keep up the amazing work.
 
Did you make the models, or did you find them somewhere, cause they look great from what I can see.

You should consider humans as well, as they are the members of the thirteenth colony...Cylons should be a playable race as they do consider themselves a society.
 
If you want pure BSG, do one civilization per colony.

If you want mixed sci-fi, look at VGA Planets for some inspiration.
