Setting up a 2-player, 4 AI, Epic, Normal Size FF game, it does never get passed init. Game freezes during Init screen, nothing moves. Process needs to be killed.

Tried to host game on either PC, neither would work.

I am also experiencing this in multiplayer and again in single player.... Seems like all others play fine....

I thought it might have something to do with the Final Frontier Demo being still installed.. I deinstalled the demo and game, and reinstalled the game again... Same issue

Can anyone play FF in MP at all?

This might help us troubleshoot our issue.

FF is just CRYING to be played in multi-player...

It was working in the office, at least. ;)

Is anyone else having problems, or, alternatively, is MP working?

Jon

Thx so much for looking into this.

Is there anything we could do to troubleshoot from our side, maybe it is a problem with one of our PCs, maybe not...

Any log files to switch on that might help to see what's happening during initialization?

Well, it's really weird that it's just locking up... I'm not sure there's much information you can derive with that being the case. I'm wondering if everyone is experiencing this or if it's a more isolated problem.

I am experiencing the same problem. Steps to reproduce (works each time on my computer) :
  1. Load the Final Frontier mod
  2. Select Solo, Custom game (Partie personnalisée in French)
  3. Modify at least one team assignment so that there is at least one two-player team.
However, setting up a custom game without a two-player (AI or human players) team seems not to trigger this bug. I tried
  • checking the "No barbarians" options
  • closing a player slot (10 civilizations instead of 11 on the map)
  • switching team assignments (player in slot 10 being team 11 and player in slot 11 being team 10)
In all of these cases, the game successfully initialized.

When this bug is triggered, the game "hangs" on the initialization screen, the progress bar remaining at the first stage (labeled "Initialisation" in French). The system monitor shows a >90% processor usage for BtS process (even after several minutes), but the memory usage remains stable.

When this bug is triggered while in full screen mode, I am not able to minimize BtS window, and the system monitor window appears under BtS window, if it appears at all (I have to reset my computer).

While in windowed mode, the system monitor window appears above the BtS window. Also, if I move the mouse cursor above BtS window's minimize-maximize-close buttons, they do not respond to click and do not even get highlighted.

In every case, the music still plays fine.

Very good desciption, YS1 !

That's exactly what we experience.
Single Player I have no problems when I keep away from teams. Maybe that's the issue...

I have had a very similar problem as you described YS1..

I tried playing MP and the game hung on the initialization screen... I had to kill the processes to get out of the game...

I also tried a SP Custom game and set it up to team with a AI.... Same issue as MP

But when I used the "just play" function without teaming...I was able to do that...

So what I am seeing is very much in line with what VS1 and Putchuco is seeing...

any MP fix?
got 3.17, solver patch 0.19, 3 players in 1 team, crash while game starting

edit:
don't know what was the problem but now it's working fine
