4000 BC
I start research on agriculture heading toward animal husbandry. Since we can already mine the silver, and camp the dear I think I can afford to take the longer route.

The founding of Aksum pops a hut that gives us maps. :(

3925 BC
(IT) The border expansion pops a hut, and we get a scout.

3875 BC
Popping a hut gives us some gold.

3725 BC
We met Sury.

3625 BC
We get gold from a hut.

3575 BC
We get mysticism from a hut. :)

3400 BC
(IT)

3350 BC
Hut mania continues, and we get experience. On this map, you know I want the woodsman promotion.
We say hello to Mehmed.

3325 BC
One of the civs I never like to see shows up - Tokugawa.
(IT)

3275 BC
(IT) We need an economy, so the next techs will be wheel and pottery.

3125 BC
Out scout with experience, just got more of it. :crazyeye:

3075 BC
(IT) We lost our inexperienced scout.

3050 BC
I can't recall the last game I found so many huts. We just got a replacement scout.

2975 BC
(IT) Our brand new scout is a wimp, and dies to the first barb animal it finds.

2875 BC
(IT) Research begins on bronze working. I have a bad feeling about finding copper with the lack of hills.

2575 BC
UGG - Our exploring scout is trapped due to a new Ottoman city blocking our only way out of the upper left corner.

2525 BC
I can't spot a single source of copper on the map.

=======================

New Updates
I would sign open borders with Mehmed as soon as we complete writing to rescue our scout. There is still a ton of land to explore.

Remember 15 peace / 10 war turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.

Win target: open

Planned wars - none at this time

The following tactics are PROHIBITED:

There are no exploits that I am aware of at this time.

Standard LK house rules:
1) Worker automation is prohibited.

2) A go to order is only allowed if you turn summary warns that it is happening and explains why. Sometimes it is just too important to make sure those reinforcements don't get sent to the wrong place.

3) Please complete your turn. At most the next player should have one unmoved unit such as a settler where you are unsure of its direction. A stack that is fortified counts as completed. The game should be sitting ready to hit end of turn with very little left to move.

4) Don't edit your game results into a previous post. There is no notification of new activity. I have had SGs stalled waiting thinking I was waiting for a person to move, when they already did.

5) The use of the auto-logger is prohibited for the body of your report. You may include it as a spoiler tag. SGs are about writing up enough information so that the team understands where you are going. The auto-logger clearly fails in this regard. Knowing the details doesn't show the big picture. SGs need the big picture.

6) SGs are about cooperative team play. If you aren't willing to discuss plans before and / or after your turn, then the LK series isn't for you.

7) Major wars shouldn't be declared without a team consensus. Clear phony wars gain diplomatic favors are ok. The phony war when you declare on an AI on another continent or a last place civ. A war of opportunity to grab one or two cities from an AI getting trashed is OK. Going after the #1 civ unplanned what I want to stop.

8) If you disagree with a dot map plan, discuss *before* playing you turn.

9) I reserve the right to refuse players whom IMHO failed to play in the spirit of cooperation. Declaring an unexpected major war is a high risk that you will go on this list. Excessive personal attacks against other players guarantee a ban from the LK series.

I realize rule 9 is a bit harsh, but I can tell too much infighting will put the LK series back on hold.

We can have the ultimate food city with pink dot.
We can split in two with green dot / blue dot.
More combinations are possible.
I want an agreement before the next turn.
We really want to grab this absurd food area.

Can you guess why the map is called rain forest?

I like the blue/green split as it picks up another resource and avoids the mountain plot and gets some brown ground for workshops.

Lurker's comment :
Corrupted floodplains (desert rivers) means a restart.
I consider this a bug no matter what Gyathaar tried to explain in another thread.
This should be fixed in the next patch.
Sometimes it happened in Warlords, but it seems to happen more frequently in BTS.
I count 7 dead floodplains in the picture. Missing 35 food is unacceptable.

Sorry, but this is just completely wrong. You are not missing out on 35 food. You never lost any food. The map generated desert there in the first place. The map always has to have a certain percentage of desert, and those tiles make up that percentage. The fact that a river was added after the tiles were generated to improve a capital does not mean that your map deserves greater than its fair share of flood plains and less than its fair share of desert. The river is an improvement to the land, not screwing you over of any floodplains you might feel are yours and were never there in the first place.

Checking in. This is also my "Got it".

Some words on my own behalf first:

I really appreciate the chance of playing this game. I always wanted to play a game with Lee and especially the venerable Bede :) . As I'm clearly the weakest player on the lineup I'd appreciate any comments and critics on my play. And if someone could drop a line or two where suitable about whipping and chopping I'd be pleased too. I strongly feel that it is these two areas that good players use efficiently wheras I do not.

On the dot map:

Personally I'd like to go with purple dot but move it 1 NW on the hill. There we'd lose the horses but gain a rice, a pig and a banana. The city would have 3 pigs, 1 rice, 2 bananas and a bunch of grassland along with one hill. It would be on a plains hill I guess and thus gaining +1 hammer and a easier defense. This would be a formidable GP farm. The 3rd city I'd put by the horses into the East.

Now that we've popped Mysticism - do we want an attempt to get a religion ?

I will play either tonight or tomorrow, it depends when I get home tonight. (Remember I'm 6 to 9 hours ahead of the US).

I like it, why didn't I see it myself. The third city could go 3E of the green spot to claim two pigs and horses. Once we cut away the jungle it would be a great commercial city. Now we need a production city as well.

Edit: But on second thought it may be better to go with the original dot map. Remember that rivers are more valuable in BtS since levies give extra hammers. This means that blue dot would be a good production center in the long run. I'm not sure what is the best move here.

Keep in mind we have NO visible copper. That really makes those horses critical. IHMO with Japan so close our first settler *must* claim the horses. I don't want Japan stealing the horses. That would leave us stuck with no military resources.

Our first city picked must claim horses.

@Lee:

How about settling our second city (with our first Settler) on the eastern shore of the small lake, grabbing pigs and horses ? And then going for my pink dot with our second Settler ? Also, how about religion ?

Imhotep

I am going to ask that someone post another dot map with the three way split. I am having a hard time visualizing how it would lay out. I won't have Civ access for another 11 hours.

As for religion - I have no interest. I feel the happy advantage of religion isn't worth the negative diplomacy hit.

Checking in.

In regards to Imhotep's dotmap change, it could probably work. I was thinking that 1NE of the lake would be best for the horse city.

Pink dot has NO food. In addition, it is useless without a border expansion.

That map doesn't work for me with all the food available.

Are we not creative? I agree that it is a pretty sad second city without IW.

@Kodii:

Yes, we are creative and organized. No food ? The city has a pig and a bunch of grassland. Of course the spot will be only really good after clearing the jungle. But that goes for most of the map I think...

Imhotep

Ooops, forget about creative. Border expansion won't be an issue.

Still not sure if a better dot map is possible. Horse city as #2 will be pretty weak to start.

Well, none of the other horse cities are any better, I don't think. The other ones may look better because of the rivers?

The thing is I hate a city with six food tiles. There should be some way to share the food better.
