The Civilopedia states that Drill I is NOT available for Melee Units but it also states that Drill II is available and Drill I is required for Drill II. Maybe i have the wrong logic but it seems to me that Drill II can't be reached because of this caveat.

Edit: Okay i found out that the Samurai (Japan UU ) starts with Drill I thus is the only Melee Unit that can reach Drill II. Is that right or am i daydreaming?

The Samurai, a melee unit, recieves the drill I promotion for free. From there they can get the later drill promotions. Access to all drill promotions makes the samurai a stronger unit.

There is, so I've heard, a random event that grants drill I to all melee units. That event would allow those melee units to obtain the later drill promotions. That makes that event a stronger event.

Melee units have access to the guerilla II and III promotions. Only Gallic swordsmen have access to the guerilla I promotion. That's a major advantage to that particular unit.

Thank you for your fast reply. :)

And Medic II/III :crazyeye: ?

And Medic I reqs Combat I instead of none etc.

A little offtopic, but many want Keshiks to be beefed, so I think that they could have Drill I or Drill I-II and Drills II-IV would be made available to Mounted units, while Keshik would be balanced in other ways too. Same time, Cossack would have free Drill I too allowing it to promoted that way too, because it doesn't have +3 strength since Warlords.

Yeah you were right. the requirement of "Combat I" for "Medic I" is missing in the "Civ IV BTS Reference Sheet" from Anion. That's why that was mising ... other stuff was just me. It's only a quick'n'dirty plan for an own PDF with promotions ...

Well pinch is also missing and the drill promotions provide access to some of the formations at the bottom of the image.

mmh pinch is not for melee units ... but i see the general problem, that you can't mak a graph for melee because it upgrades to gunpowder later on ...
