Colonial Adventure

We are in 1735, time to send out colonists. I suggest we send out 3-4 galleons, each with a settler, worker and 1 military unit for garrison. I know this is a gamble, but after all, gambling is fun in games. Any comments?

EDIT, Galleons have only 3 slots, so 1 garrison, not 2.

Galleons only have three spaces, so each one would have a settler, a worker and one miltary unit

I agree with the general idea and I believe 1 worker is sufficient to start with.

Where do you want to settle?

That is up to fate to decide, we just send out some galleons with colonists, and see what happens. We were a bit slow mapping the world, and this is the only option left.

I'm sorry, but sending out Galleons blindly into the seas in the hope of finding an island sounds stupid to me. Especially since there's a small chance of there actually being an island.

Not really stupid, a gamble yes, but not stupid. And we can certainly afford it now. Worst case we got a reserve of 3 workers and 3 settlers we need to return back and set-up some cities later on in the game, but the possible gain is worth it (these will explore anyways).

Wrong! Worst case is to get our fisher places destroyed by enemy navy because our own enjoys a sightseeing.
Did you forget the reason we built ships? To protect fishermen.
Do you want adventure? Great! A Roman adventure waits you.
That done (just our fair Civ on this continent) we shall speak.
Best regards,

this is right after the war (naval battles), so take it easy.

I'm sorry Provolution but this is something you didn't mention in your OP of the poll to this discussion topic. You should recreate that poll with all the information about the intention and timing and ask for the old poll to be locked. It is misleading the public.

If you don't recreate the poll with said new and complete information you can expect citizens to bring it to the Judiciary.

I disagree with this strategy send out the caravels, if there is an island then we can discuss settling it, we need the settlers at home now (plus if there was open coast on the other continent why would the Inca be sending a settler our way?)

Nope I did read that, even after the war go ahead send out scouts, but I don't agree with the idea of building these settlers before we even see the spot they can settle, I'm not convinced there are such places on this map.

Revised plan. I now sending only one galleon into the southern dark part of the ocean. The odds is 33 % for one island, and it is worth the try. Not 3, but 1.

i like colonys, so i agree in princepal to buliding us some colonys, ill leave the specifcs up to you little people.

Let's make sure the people want it before we actually do it. :)

The southern part to the east of our landmass? I must admit I've been playing warlords and bts too much to really remember how vanilla continents maps look.

If we decide not to sink the Inca boat, there is already a caravel shadowing it which could keep right on going to explore that direction.

well, then we should explore asap. Of course, I will poll/discuss things to death before I order anything. I just find it a fair idea to go assertively for potential islands, as the risk is minimal.

Monte has colonize an island, perhaps there is another, then it will also colonize from him.
