So, how much are you gonna pay for the next Radiohead album?

How much would you pay for the Radiohead album?

Radiohead will release their coming album on the web only for a couple of months, and you will be able to buy it at the price you want.

Should you decide to get the album, how much would you pay for it?

Note that yes, you can legally pay nothing and get the CD.

Radiohead, as a side note, is currently without a recording label.

Poll is in pounds since that's what you would pay on their website.

I focused on amounts less than 10 pounds since I figured not a lot of people are going to pay more than a real CD for it...

I'd pay a penny, but I'm pretty sure they'd actually get *charged* more than that just to carry out the transaction. I wouldn't pay money for it, but if it's free then I don't see why I shouldn't d/l it.

I do kinda feel guilty though... Like when you go to a museum and they have the box for a voluntary donation, I feel like a right tight arse if I don't pay anything. *remembers Simpsons episode to that effect*

I know, right?

but I think it will be a great way to see what customers are willing to pay for music. I'm afraid the number is going to get close to 0...

I bought OK Computer, which was OK, but i'm not interested in more Radiohead, even if it is free.
Gotta say, though, the website looks like it was designed by a 10 year old on LCD...

I think it's a brilliant marketing tool and more power to them for coming up with it. Turning it into a moral question targetted at you is very clever. I paid 3 pounds because that's about 7 Australian dollars and that seems a good price for a CD.

I have no interest in the album so I'll not be paying anything for it. But I have to applaud them for such an idea.

I will watch this with interest. It would be neat if they come out ahead in this deal than with a record label.

I should also add that I hope this shows the recording industry that the internet isn't the end of the world, they just need to focus more on quality, and change their distribution methods.

They have a decent tune or two, that's the best I can say about them. For the sake of argument, just assume I'm a fan of Radiohead. In that case, I would look up the average price of a newly released CD and add a bit on top of that. I don't know what their motivation is here, but it's more clever than "steal this album."

I never begrudge paying for something with value. I certainly don't regret having to pay for my Civ IV CD.

Probably a few dollars less than what I would pay at the CD store, whatever that works out to...

That assumes that the average price of a CD is fair and not massively over-priced.

I'm not buying it, not because certain monkey stole my money as the poll option suggests but because I'm not interested of their music.

Free.. if i can be arsed(not a big fan)

Not into them. I did like maybe 3-4 songs of them back when, I have that Pablo Honey CD.
