AI making too many Corp Execs

Has anybody else encountered the AI making more Execs than military units in the late game?

If they had diverted that production into military units it would have been much harder to defeat them.

The AI likes to spam the wrong things, sometimes. You get used to it.

In my current game I've just taken a city defended by two infantry and 8 creative constructions execs - it could at least have moved them when my SoD arrived.

Yah that is the kinda of ratio I'm encountering too. Some cities had 20+ execs and 4 defenders. Oh well.

^ The AI probably just needs to only build execs when it has somewhere to send them

ie.. a city without the corp that it can reach and get into
AND enough gold to use the exec.

Exactly... Now why isn't the AI intelligent enough to realize this? How can we make it so?

I have a number of theories that may explain this behavior.
  1. You've stumbled upon a Convention Center
  2. More executives mean better decisions (just like in real life)
  3. They need something to feed to the alligators
  4. Executives breed in the dark
  5. They were garrison units, but changed into civvies when your tanks rolled up

I recently noticed this as well. Its a shame because the AI woulda been able to put up a good fight otherwise. And I could see that during the war they were still building them. And of course had it not been at war then those production resources shoulda went towards other things.

I also noticed that the AI had an unusual amount of Settlers sitting in cities. I had noticed this prior to BTS. But this time I found far more settlers than there were places to settle. I also noticed that some civs had HUGE stacks of naval units again. Coastal cities would be full of them while only having a few defenders. And during an early war they were still building them even though I was making a land assault and their fleet of Galleons did them absolutely no good. And then later I noticed that after the AI builds the Apollo wonder, and is under attack, they will still go on building SS parts instead of defenders. Arghhh! In the 40 or so turns it took me to conquer that large overseas civ, they could have built another hundred units or so and saved themselves. If that AI wasn't still so blasted stupid they would have been able to force me to abort the war and then still have had a chance at winning the SS race. I'd even gifted them and the other remaining civ the techs for modern armor and stealth bombers in the hopes that the wars would be more interesting.

*Sigh* I don't see much AI improvement on the whole.
Lucky for me FfH2 for BTS has been released so BTS will still get some action.

Rifleman: Hmm, we're a bit obsolete aren't we?
Rifleman 2: Yeah, come to think of it, we are
Sentry: Guys! We're reporting a massive stack of doom heading towards our city!
Rifleman: What size?
Sentry: 15 Modern Armours, 20 Mobile Artillery, 15 Infantry
Rifleman 2: -muttering- I'm outta here!
Rifleman: Oh snap! What ever shall we guys do?
-crickets-
Rifleman: Where did everyone go?
Rifleman 20: Look, over there

Rifleman: Cowards...
Executive: There's no freaking way I'm fighting a Stack of Doom!

I can confirm the big stack of naval units,
something like 4 land units and 8 naval units in a city I conquered...

it is surely not wise to keep all those ships
in a city I can take in one single opening turn of a war...

Does the AI ever force civic changes upon other civs through espionage to get them out of Mercantilism or State Property?

Maybe it builds so many Executives because it just checks if there are cities that don't have the corporation yet, without checking if it can get there (Open Borders) and spread it (civics).

Too bad they're killed anyways, huh? I usually raze all cities infected by CreaCon or Mining Inc.
