Anybody interested in helping me with my (hopefully) upcoming science fiction mod?

Okay, so I've pretty much accepted the fact that this mod I'm working on is never going to get finished if I try to do everything myself (or else I'll finally finish it a long time from now when no one makes, or plays, Civ 3 mods anymore :( ). So, long story short, I need help. The mod is to be based upon the Science Fiction Game from Civilization II: Test of Time, so if anyone who's familiar with it wants to help me with some of the artwork, that would be great! Then maybe one day the mod will finally be posted on this site for your enjoyment! I certainly hope it'll be enjoyable... seeing as how it's my first serious mod, it may not be the best I'll ever make.
But I digress. I particularly need help with the units and terrain. At least for the time being; I may need help with other things later on. But those are the things I'm particularly bad at or just don't have the software/general ability to make well. Though really I'm not the best at graphics in general; for one thing, I'm pretty technologically behind. Though I'll at least be able to do some things. For one thing, I just got a copy of Poser 5, so hopefully once I can make sense of the face room and maybe get some more content, I'll be able to make leaderheads, advisors, etc reasonably well. I suppose I could make units, too, but unfortunately, I don't really have the patience for it.
Anyways, this is probably going to take a while even if I do have help, but it'll go a lot faster. So thanks in advance, and sorry my message was so long.

Hi! :)

There's a lot of more-or-less generic sci-fi units, terrain, leaderhead and improvement graphics available at CFC.

So one thing you could consider is to post some sort of list, where you tell us what kind of graphics you need - and veteran members here at CFC could give you a link to that particular graphic (if it already should exist), or a similar graphic that you could use as a placeholder while you wait for a graphic which suits better for your needs.

Oh yes, you should get used to using placeholder graphics, if you are going for some really extravagant or weird things: they do not grow on trees ;)

You could also check for yourself for some sci-fi units from the download-section (linky to the sci-fi world of units)

Cheers,
aaglo

I happen to have made terrain for the Willies from that mod (basically modified swamp terrain with some of the original Willies terrain graphics cut and pasted in), and I was planning on releasing some Burning Forest graphics (based on snoopy's jungles with the original burning forest graphics C&P'ed in).....

I started a few very very simple versions of some of the units from it, I could be persuaded to make them once i've finished my already big list. No promises now, just saying that I did love that scenario and I might just make some of the units from it in the future :)

I made quite a few of the city sets for ToT...Im not sure where they are however :(

Quinzy: do you happen to have them?

If not I still have the file to convert them from...I can redo them

I don't think so, but I can make them and send you the unanimated Br5 files if you like. I'll probably rig them up for you too, to make them easier to animate. :)

Hummm... Well, how about I animate and you can render them, seeing as that's what tames most of my time up... It can be a Spacer One/Quinzy co-op thing :D

Good news! I have finished (?) the advisors. Not the actual advisor screens, but the heads. Here's what they look like (in happy mode):
Spoiler :
advisors.JPG

From left to right: Science, Culture, Domestic, Foreign, Military, Trade.
Some of them don't look as good as they could, so I may have to work on them a little more... by the way, the science advisor came out looking very human, but she's supposed to be a (humanoid) robot. Anyway, this is what I have so far.

That's pretty good... BTW, are you interested in the Marshes => Willies conversion I made?

Sure, that would be awesome! Thanks. And I'm glad to hear that my advisors look good, because it took a lot of time and effort to make them.

I think you should alter the color of the "hair" under the cyborg part of the Modern Military guy, so that it matches his skin...the hair UNDER the semi visible looks odd...

Other than that...great work...Is that all C-n-P work with pallet edits??
If so...Wow...really...Im good at C-n-P, but...wow

Some of it I cut and pasted, like the clothes, but to change the colors, I pretty much just... well, it's complicated. Basically, I did it one pixel at a time. I used the "Fill With Color" function in Paint to replace each colored dot with a shade of whatever color I wanted. It takes hours, but it's surprisingly effective. That's how I made the cyborg part of the modern military advisor, and how I changed the colors of the domestic and foreign advisors' skin, and a lot of the time, I used that to change the colors of the clothes, too. Like with the medieval trade advisor, I used this method to turn her dress and hat red (other than that, it's just the original cultural advisor's industrial dress and Theodora's industrial hat)

Alright... Do you have any resource GFX for the Yellow willies or such? I've done some resource conversions from TOT... I'll have to dig them up, though....

Okay, get the willies here:

Yeah, I have the icons for pretty much everything in the resource file. Except I only have a few of the resources from the other planets (the essential ones), since I can only make one world, but other than that, I basically have all of them.

I think that if you wanted to make your Science adviser look more like a robot, you may want to drain the colour from the face. You could also take away the eye colour, to make it look even less natural.

The advisers look good!

Thanks.
I actually tried to make the science advisor's skin less normal-colored, but Poser kept automatically changing it. Also, it's hard to tell, but her eyes are red. And they light up when she's mad.
