Stupendously Illogical Englishman
Spoiler :
The year is 1830. The Rainhill Trials have proved railway economicability to the British. All that must be done is the connection of railways. If Hudson, Stephenson and Brunel hadn't stood the challenge, would you step forward?
As you can tell, it's 1830, and Britain has begun 'Railway Mania'. All sorts of events are ahead of you to bridge, including war, depression and international affairs. This NES should be fats an easy.

The first two are self explainitory.
MONEY: Depending on the location on your railway, you can gain or lose money quite easily. For example, moving coal from East Anglia (or thereabouts) to a large city will give you a profit. Delivering fish to a place that demands cattle will not give a profit. Ports will except most goods.
HEADQUATERS: The city where you built your first station is the meeting place of your Board of Directors. You gain double profits at this station for the first ten years, and then 20% extra passenger income.
REPUTATION: Your reputation refers to how you run the company. A robber baron, hell bent on buying out comapnies and running them into the ground would not be viewed on too happily by the general public. Getting down too low will cause you to be sacked by the Board of Directors.

BOARD OPINION: Your directors won't be too pleased if you lose 1 million pounds a year (even though that's probably only happening to a very unlucky player). If your opinion reaches rock bottom, you will promply sacked and have to start again as a new company.

LOCOMOTIVES: Often, a innovative and shiny new design (we're obviously not talking about the Q1 here) will hit the lcomotive market. You want it? Drooling? You can purchase new engines for your routes at anytime provided you have money. Because if there's no train, there's no profit. Remember to tell me exactlty what it will be doing when writing orders.
CLASSES OF ENGINE: There are three. Passenger engines are best pulling express cargoes like passengers and mail, goods engines are at home on everything else, and shunting engines are your jack of all trades in stations. Shunters reduce time to turn trains around, and thus gain an increase on money, depending on how modern it is.
PRESERVATION: There comes a time for all of us when that engine just isn't handling the load anymore, or that line no longer has an economical purpouse. You could scrap it and gain money, or you could preserve it and gain reputation.
NEWS: Every 6 months, the papers will be delivered to your door. These are updates. Events like the Irish Potato Famine or World War One can affect your company, and sometimes, scandals in the buisness of railways can cause public concern. PAY ATTENTION. YOU COULD A MEDIA SCAPEGOAT.
STORIES: Encouraged, but not required. People who take the effort will be rewarded.
