Until now the STR-series participants have conquered the world, awed it with their culture and sent themselves off into Space. However, we have never tried, and thus not succeeded, to unite the world peacefully under one leader. It is time to prove that we are capable of doing this as well.

Game Settings:
Game Version: BtS 3.13
Difficulty level: Monarch
Map type: Lakes
Map size: Standard
Game speed: Normal (Up for discussion)
Civ: Native Americans
Leader: Sitting Bull
Victory conditions: All enabled, must win by Diplomatic Victory
Opponents: 6 random
Barbs: On

To spice things up a little, we will play this as a OCC, so this will be a 'True' Diplomatic Victory (and because I haven't played this variant in SG format yet)

Roster:
1) Strauss
2) tycoonist
3) Mighty Dwaarf
4) GreyFox
5) stuge

Standard rules: 24 hours for a 'got it', additional 48 hours to play.

Alright, the roster is full so I will roll the start now.

EDIT: No, I won't. We still have to decide whether to play this game at Epic or at Normal. I would probably prefer Normal since this is going to be a 'peaceful' OCC.

If you've got room for one more I'd be happy to join. I've seen people pull this off in HOF games(with picked opponents of course) but have never done so myself.

The start is here:

I think we should just settle in place. There seems to be coast to the north, but I don't think it's worth to go there on a Lakes map. If we do decide to move, I suggest the plains hill 1 NW.

Looks kinda food poor. I'd have a look 1NW.

Here's what the move 1NW turned up:

This gives us some more food to work with. With only forests to the east, and losing the Gold by moving west, I say we settle here.

Will play the rest of my first 50 turns tomorrow, then it's 20 each until it comes back to me for 15 turns each for the rest of the game.

settling where we are now means 7 water tiles in fat cross that 1/3 of workable tiles in the game!!, I agree with fox in that as is OCC we can afford a few turns to ensure best spot. I dont think we should get blinded by the gold, I would possibly take a chance and move west towards the river.

+7 food with all farmed (plus city = +9)
-10 for mined hills, we don't have enough food pre-biology. especially given unhealthiness issues

If there were seafood in those water tiles I would have settled, but there aren't.

This start is too food poor. I would have moved further west to take a look.

Although we don't need to be very advance in tech or military, we still need to compete sufficiently with the AIs for the apostolic palace or UN. We need a better start location.

Go have a look at that river. If there isn't a decent place to settle there, rerolling might be in order.

It took me a turn longer than it should have (to make sure the tile 2W was desert), but we have a nice little spot here:

Will finish up tonight.

Well I settled on the spot above, but I decided, since I'm fairly inexperienced in OCC's, I'd prefer getting some advice on early tech routes and building orders before proceeding. Don't worry, once we've got these early roadblocks out of the way the game will pick up pace.
