Hello Dolly.
Now thats what I call a start.

Specs: Gus-Monarch, Marathon, Fractal, Standard size

I usually don't like to play out the tedious final turns when I already know I won. So I'd just restart and call this game a win.

And you forgot to mention corn and bananas. Considering that you are roman, I would feel bad if no iron pop up :D
Why not worker first to improve corn and gems in that case?

wowee zowee that IS a good start. but without copper or iron or horses nearby it might not be your city for long...

Funny thing I acctualy got a barb event and died to 4 archers in 3000 BC
So I called that BS and restarted and one of my opponents got a barb event BUT it came down to me and wiped me out.

Heheh. That's the RNG's way of saying, "Whoah, what did I just do? Can't let THAT go."

too bad it is marathon...

actually i had a similiar incident- horse-bronze, marble, and i was on my own penisula- ...then 4 barbarian horse pop right outside my warrior defended capitol.
Watched a show about pirates in the carribean on the history channel and one of the guys on there said something to the effect that there is nothing as dangerous as thinking your position safe.

(i say good start= build scouts)

3 grassland gems (riverside 2*) is just  already but no on top of that you need to have corn, bananas, 2 grassland gold hills and 7 grassland river tiles. Isn't that a bit over the top? No wonder the RNG punished you with the barb event ;) But damn what an incredible start. I love playing those starts. These starts can get you a high score and yes I do have fun when I have cavalry against longbows.

What a start. Easily equal to one-two difficulty levels lower.

Spoiler :
There is iron close by, actually there is plenty of iron on the continent, not much copper though, and the one source of that is far away

I usually find it fun to play up through the middle ages, but by then if there's no credible opposition there's not much purpose continuing.

Perhaps you should move up a level or two?

Had a start on medium-and-small, I think, where I was Ethiopia and ended up with Oromo's before the AIs all had Monarchy... :king:

just to tell you all I did start with a worker but I just misclicked on warrior.

Plus he's Roman, so that means 3 levels lower
