Simple Yes/No question: Is the value of the entertainment you have received from BTS greater than or equal to the cost of purchasing the game?

For example, if you spent $20 on the game, have you gotten at least $20 of entertainment value from the game?

Yes, although its ~$90NZ where I live.

Especially multiplayer, I gain much more utility from playing multiplayer 'games' than almost any other form of screen entertainment.

(system shock 2 if you can get it running...Ive had (renounced good boy) mongrelmob children scared of that game)

But I understand the question...Ive brought plenty of titles, even full priced ones, that I curse as sunk costs; leave to grow dust.

Nope,BTS is really a good game indeed but I can't forget about the efforts to make it as it is now, those efforts are called civ vanilla, patches, warlord, patches, BTS, patches, Bhruic job, mainly.

Not to mention all the skilled modders and DJ Anjon for the manual efforts.

I would say that everyone in this community make it a masterpiece, the game alone doesn't scream, its fans deserve great part of BTS success

$90? Dude, I picked up Civ 4 Complete for $70 from a store on Queen St. What part of the country are you in?

I think the $NZ means New Zealand Dollars - only a guess though... Although the poster has given the location "New Zealand", so maby not all that guessy...

To avoid confusing people who use different currencies, lets assume that BTS costs 10:gold: . I put the item, cost, and time of usability on my list

BTS: 10:gold:, 18 months

Movie: 7:gold: , 1-3 hours

Book: 1-15:gold:, 1 week-1month

Halo 3: 30:gold: , 1 year

Your mom: 50:gold: , 30 minutes;)

By and large, strategy games are good values due to their replayability, and BTS is no exception.

Er....Seeming that he asked what part of the country the other was in, and also has "Middle Earth" has his location, I'm pretty sure he's from NZ himself.

Yes, for sure, even though I bought both expansions separately.

It's still not quite at the cost/benefit ratio of Starcraft, though. I'm still playing that game....

well...

it stops me studying which could make my degree a class lower and end up with me earning thousands less pounds over the course of my life, and you know, it will still be worth it, lifes here to enjoy and BTS is great fun :)

Yeah, and I am from NZ too, hence my disbelief at it costing $90. And the fact I mentioned Queen St, which is like our version of, um, whatever the main streets of London and New York are...

Only crappier...

(see to the left? Middle Earth? See what I did there? :p )

It's already worth it and I haven't even explored all the different features yet. I'll have to get a WWII game going soon, that one seems really interesting.

definately yes.

its on a par with the pro evo's 1 through 8 and FM (formerly CM) 94 through 2008.

no other games have ever touched those 3 in terms of entertainment value and replayability.

CivIV, one of my favorite all time games
