BtS on Vista

After years of struggling with 384Ram and having to give up games after 1800 as my PC ground to a standstill, I had enough and bought a shiny new PC (with Vista ).

Now however, when I start Civ (Bts), I keep getting the following error message:

"Invalid Device - You have selected an unusable voice capture device. Voice capture disabled."

It doesn't stop me playing, but every time I have to cancel it 3 times. I've looked in Options but can't see any problems.

Any help will be much appreciated.

open civilizationIV.ini and set EnableVoice=1 to 0

i have a realtek sound card and everytime i load up Civ4 is says 'You have selected an unusable capturing device. Voice capture disabled'. Will i have to change my sound card to a soundblaster? or is there a way round it?

did you make the .ini change? Try doing it and setting the .ini to read only - sometimes this change gets overwritten by the game...

I managed to get the game working. i reinstalled my sound card and for some reason it starting working n didnt crash on me thanks for the reply anyway mate!
