Now, before you click the link below, ask yourself... "What would be the 10 topics that conservatives would most be interested in?" Immigration? Gay Marriage? States rights? The War with Iraq? Reducing Taxes? Evolution/Intelligent Design?

Top 10 links on conservapedia

*note I realize the conservapedia is hardly representative of conservatives at-large, but I found this to be damned funny.

**note 2, first came across this @ Boing-Boing, but they linked to someone else.

I saw something like this for another ideologically driven website for which I will not mention where those of the opposing ideology would constantly view/search certain things to skew the results. In fact, a good example of this is the rush of Paul supporters to various internet polls to make him look more popular than reality. In the above case, it wouldn't surprise me if there were more people going to conservapedia to see what conservatives have to say about homosexuality than conservatives doing the same.

Gay Bowel Syndrome‎ ????

I think I see a trend, not only on conservapedia, but also the American political field.

If so, that's a pretty funny prank. And, if so, it probably wouldn't be hard to find links on other websites asking people to spam the conservapedia. Regardless, as I noted, I'm not out to bash any ideolgy since the conservapedia doesn't really represent any mainstream opinions, I just thought it was damned funny. :)

If you check the top 10 on the wikipedia you see no such weirdness. Although, that's interesting as well, just to see the list.

Mom, hillary won't come out of the closet!

I am talking about the members of the Religious Right who get caught up in "immoral" affairs. I am not talking just about homosexuality either.

Not surprising to see a website being something of a place of competition for who can control the information that entitle what it is to be a conservative and how the set of limitations of the ideology of American Conservatism is supposed to be.

:rotfl: That can't possibly be legit, can it?
Of course not, but everyone will get a cheap laugh out of it. Ironically, those laughing the most seem to find any sort of jokes about being different (including being a homosexual) to be terribly offensive.

It doesn't have to be any kind of prank or organised campaign - every time I've seen links to conservapedia it's been people poking fun at it, and it wouldn't surprise me if most links are people seeing what they say, rather than conservatives making edits.

Other interesting stats would be how many pages on particular topics there are (could be done by looking at sizes of categories?), or what pages are most actively edited.

What's particularly interesting is how frequently viewed Homosexuality (rank 2) is compared with the main page - it's 83% the frequency of the main page, and has 4% of the total views.

Compare with Wikipedia - rank 2 (Wiki) is only 3% the size of the Main Page, and only has 0.1118% of total views.
