Hello, Sir!
What is your favorite Real-Time Strategy game of all time?

I voted Rise of Nations. Here are the ones I haven't played.

All Total War games
Company of Heroes (not old enough)
AoE III's Exp Packs
Rise of Legends
All the Warcraft games (I'm planning on getting World of Warcraft for Christmas, but it's an RPG)
Empire Earth III
World in Conflict (getting it for Christmas)
Starcraft

Company of Heroes by a long shot. :)

Apart from AOE2, which I played a little with my friends, it's the only RTS I've really played much in multiplayer. Logged about 250 games, and probably watched almost as many replays (at it's best the game can resemble a decent war movie). I haven't really played it since the Opposing Fronts expansion came out though, partly due to burnout and partly because I felt that said expansion pack reduced the game's tactical complexity, but I'm hopeful that it will be patched into something more playable in time.

For the guy who said "other", could he please tell me what game he had in mind?

Gamespot would put it as a tie between Rise of Nations and Age of Mythology. IGN would vote for Starcraft.

I picked RoN because it is easier to play than your standard RTS, but it still has the epic feel of Civilization. I always play either RoN (TaP exp pack) or Civ4 (BtS exp pack).

In the beginning, there were many great game series, but only two of them, Civilization and Warcraft, have survived to the present day without losing too many fans. Bruce Shelley, a former co-creator of Civ1, created the game Age of Empires to combine Warcraft gameplay with the historical flavor of Civilization. Eventually, Age of Empires itself inspired two great game series; Empire Earth and Rise of Nations.

I want to pick up Rome: Total War sometime, and I'm going to get WiC and WoW for Christmas. I'm going to post something crazy if anyone votes for Empire Earth III.

Company of Heroes.

Mainly because of the features like directional cover, tanks taking damage depending on where they are hit and because it's very well balanced. Then there is the fact that Priest Overwatch rounds look really cool.

For me It's a tie between Starcraft or the Command & Conquer series.

Why dosn't anybody vote for World in Conflict?

Like I said, I'm going to post something crazy if somebody votes for EEIII. From now on, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT RTS GAME YOU LIKE MOST THAT'S YOUR FAVORITE! I'm assuming you guys like C&C a lot.

Here's the RTS Games that were in IGN's "The Top 25 PC Games of All Time".

1. Rome: Total War
2. Starcraft
3. Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
4. Company of Heroes
5. Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness

I don't see any "Command and Conquer" game in this list. Although it admittedly was published too early for World in Conflict to be on the list.

Two way tie between Z and Dungeon Keeper.
Some runner ups in no particular order:
- Warcraft 2
- Europa Universalis 2
- Stronghold (2001)
- Startopia

Red Alert 2 would be my all time favourite but I voted for Starcraft simply because of the memories I have with it

Company of Heroes.

Indeed, the features such as the cover system and squad retreat system are what attracted me to the game. It is almost wargame-like in it's focus on front-line combat rather than wood-chopping peasant management. The balance though I have always found to be just a touch iffy...vCOH always slightly favoured the Allies over the Axis, and the balance up to this point in COH-OF has been a mess. The Panzer Elite have basically been able to spam their way to victory with all powerful infantry blobs, though having just read the change-log for the most recent patch it looks like they have actually just been pretty well nerfed.

My favourite is Europa Universalis II. Have played it for some years now, and still haven't grown tired of it. C&C Red Alert on second and Dungeon Keeper 2 on third, barely beating Settlers 2.

Z, with Stronghold as a runner up, would be my choice.
Z ist just godly, I haven't played anything coming close to it's combination of stupid humor and fast paced game play. And who doesn't want to be told by the game that he just sucks?

WHAT IN THE WORLD! I THOUGHT THAT THE EUROPA UNIVERSALIS SERIES WASN'T AN RTS!

Why don't I see any love for World in Conflict? Gamespot rated that game the highest out of all these; even higher than Civ4!
