DA 06: Former First Lady, Junior Senator Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton

This is thread 06 in the Devil's Advocate line of threads.

In these threads, all posters have to take exactly the opposite stance to the ones they usually take. Thus, for example, I will defend Shariah law and defend the legal "rights" of Muslims to take four wives if they want. And I'll do it sincerely, not satirically.

This DA thread is meant to discuss Senator Hillary Clinton. Love her or hate her, you can't ignore her. Having already caused much debate over her gender, her policies on healthcare and videogames are the ones that generate the most debate among those of us here on CFC.

Whatever your opinion of her is, in this thread, you have to argue for a logically coherent opposite. I know, it seems completely impossible that anything that is in opposition to your opinion can conceivably be logically coherent. But we are here to gain insight into how the other side thinks we think, so give it your best shot.

As this is an emotive topic, it'd be rather amiss of me not to kick it off with a bit of an emotional bang:

Hillary Clinton stands by her point, she has no desire to lie or even "plant" people in questionaries.

/wonders why she is covering up her wedding ring in the photo.

And yes, in that kind of photo....every little detail has its purpose.

Hillary will be fair to her opponents. The photo proves this. By covering up her wedding ring, she is tacitly sending a signal that marriage or the number of spouses one has had should not matter to the voting public. Subtle manuevers like this show that she is the one Democratic candidate with the skills needed to win the general election (by wooing over moderates who are tired of the politics of personal destruction in the general election).

But the prospect of having a lesbian dominated utopia is what lets her pick up votes that no other Democrat will be able to garner in the general election. It doesn't matter that they are thinking abut the wrong kind of lesbians, it just matters that it can get her votes among Southern men with lesbian fantasies that John Edwards or Barack Obama just can't get.
