TAM v2.01 (for Civ4 Vanilla v1.74)
----------------------------------------

TAM SITE
WARNING: you need a fresh installation in order to play TAM 2.01. Finish your current savegame, if you care it, before installing TAM 2.01

Installation:
If you have installed TAM before, delete the TAM folder from your "Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods" folder. Then put the downloaded TAM file into your "Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4" folder and extract it using WinRAR "Extract Here" command. No original CIV files will be overwritten

Launching:
The best way to launch the MOD is to double-click the TAM map files (marked as 2.01) in the "Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\PublicMaps" folder

TAM v2.01 features:
-> XML improvements and fixes on civics, wonders, buildings, techtree and units
-> Assyrian as 24th playable civ
-> New scenario map - TAM Eastern Med - 15 Civs - Standard map

Mainly religions and religious buildings.
Poly and Mono religious buildings work in a different manner now.

Are those religious changes done before or after what you sent me to convert to BTS with?

Seeing this released prompted me to make my first foray back into CivIV for months.

Started a game as Persia on the Huge map ... which was a mistake. Huge is a bit too much for my poor comp, and the "empty" (soon barbarian-filled) area east of the Persians and Medes is enormous. I'll start a new game where I won't spend 300 turns fighting barbs in slow motion ... :crazyeye:

Nice job on the Assyrian LH. Isabelle looks a little bit hot now! :*)

The color scheme of her costume is a bit late 20th C. NEON though.

Zerver made Isabella's LH ;)
I was looking for a "lustful" queen, and she seems ok as Semiramis

Heroes are identical to the corresponding civ's UU, plus have low production cost and 3 collective healing promotions, making them extremely useful in a units stock.

lol i hear you.
downloaded 2.01 and started a huge marathon game with carthage on emperor.

maybe i was a bit too ambitious, as nubian hordes from the southern deserts are swarming me.
thriving barbarian empire along the coast, west of carthage. they apparently are more culturally advanced than i am, as their metropols are connected by road networks while my first colony got razed during one exceptionally large barbarian assault.
experienced javelineers took one barbarian city and captured 100 gold, which is good since i had like 0 - 10% research - my entire economy goes into the maintainance of a javelineer army which barely manages to keep the barbs away from my capital.
the javelineers, along with "+25% vs. medium" promotion, keep the warriors at bay for now. at night, i have nightmares of the first barbarian archer appearing out of the southern shadows.

i can see some other nations suffering just as much, there's a people getting destroyed every now and then.

this carthaginian struggle against nubian tribes sure is fun for the moment - but on emperor, i fear there will be a rude awakening when other empires in less remote and bard-invested areas of the world will eventually make contact with me.

and i still need to get that wheel.

You guys are gluttons for punishment....... haha

I thought fighting barbarian hordes was difficult enough on Noble setting without the "raging barbarians" switched on.

If I want time to slow down to torture myself, just put the time setting on Marathon.... haha

glad your enjoying the torture, though

Keep on TAMing

well i didn't know!
but i don't wanna quit this game now; you always grow into it, you know..? :p

 i just got my ass handed over to me..

it was just when i had consolidated my african borders and researched the techs to at least harvest the basic resources in my area - but the Greeks thought it was time to end the fun.
they came up with a surprise attack, just where you'd least expect a Greek landing: at the western part of my empire! no need to tell how an army of armored spearmen and javelineers walked through my archer defending the city.. they razed it, as it was apparently too far away for them to be of any use. (i will never understand why they keep razing my cities, they must want the juicy resoruces just as bad!)
then they started behaving odd, not like civ4 vanilla armies.
3 units marched south and blocked a pass through the mountains behind which my anti-barb forces were dispersed.
the main body continued eastwards, won the decisive battle against my rushed defense army with a few losses and razed the second city. now the way to carthage was free.
meanwhile, my fleet tried to deliver some revenge by raiding the coasts, but the Greek fleet thought not so. it was as if they were expecting me, as my ships were dispatched before they could even reach Greek waters, lost the naval battle around Phoenizian Sicily.
well, barbarians exploited my weakened defenses and united with greek troops in killing off my last 3 cities, sowed some salt into the earth and declared the game a success.
razed my whole empire.. wonder how much gold they gained from this, and if it was worth it. :p

only thing that annoyed me was the rul0r iberian empire. i know . .. .. .. .. .ing about free mods is lame, but if you want feedback: i would love if the mod could somehow reduce the strength of empires that never really were a prolonged empire - like the iberian tribes. should be more like barbarian cities if you are playing carthage and want to conquer the coastal area. would have had no chance this game with the iberians being no1 advanced culture in like everything.

i will try again, with monarch this time. the Greeks won't know what hit them.. and why, for that matter. ;)

Astat,

Your playing Vanilla TAM v2.01 correct? If so, you are right the Iberians have a great starting spot, and usually do well, but they will not always be dominant militarily. They receive pressure usually from the Gauls and Britons, and Rome almost always wants a piece of their action (along with everyone else). I have seen games where Carthage as the AI actually takes a good piece of Hispania, though that is rare I admit, but I have seen it.

I have played as Germania and had a Greecian war, you just never know when they are going to do that. Its rare, but its wild. haha

If you try the BTS TAM v.074 with the 24 civ scenario/huge map you will find that the Tartessians (southern tip of hispania) get locked up early on with the Iberians and their incessant battles slow down their expansion until one or the other prevails.

I like playing as Carthage a lot, and its always a challenge, because you have to spread out pretty fast both east and west, and also try to secure the major islands from Rome.

Keep on TAMing

if i owned BTS, i would have tried your latest release right away! :)

i missed an option to tweak AI brightness/bonus on an individual basis. would have loved to give rome AI bonus for emperor while letting iberia play on chieftain or so. :)

i've played huge map last time, now i've started a new game on the standard map.
surprisingly, northwestern africa contains far more (and diverse) resources on the standard map than on huge. so many goodies, i can't even see why i should set sail for sicily or any other island..

looks as if the maps were created by independent minds. so which map is the editor's choice? :)
which map size was TAM made for?

Im not sure but I think Laurino or Ambrox were the last to work on the TAM vanilla maps.

My hands down favorite has always been the Huge Meditteranean Map. I have tried the others but I always come back to the Huge one. I think part of the reason is, it is just large enough to give you a good strategy feel of the tribal growth to empire. A world map of earth is always difficult to love because there is not enough room to properly display the individuality of certain regions. I think TAM's Huge Map reaches a nice balance of Strategy and Tactical play.

TAM BTS Huge Map has 24 civilizations, versus the 18 on vanilla. This adds to the difficulty and challenge of the game, but also gives it a better flavor because of all the added interactions with other cultures/religions and empire wanna be's. haha

Typically for most tribes, if you can land race and have 6 cities established, you are doing pretty good. If you dont, you could be in trouble. I always hated the "land race", but for some reason its not as bad in the TAM setting.

Not sure where to post this, as I don't use this Forum a lot.
I downloaded TAM v2.01 for use with Vanilla CivIV.
It looks really nice. And the first game has been quite interesting.
Playing the Myceanes on the TAM Magna Graecia 7 civs Huge.
Getting close to the end of the game (about 94 turns to go.)
However, I am now stuck as the game crashes every time I either:
1) Attack the barbarians I am next to, or
2) End turn
I have tried turning off all the animations I could find, as I saw a note suggesting that would help.
Not sure what else to try, or where to send the save file to provide assistance to the developers.

Thank you,
Joel M. Halpern

In my experience there is near nothing you can do.
When crash occours during your turn, you can avoid it simply changing the sequence of your moves/attacks, but when it occours at EOT you can't do nothing other than resume a old savegame and pray. :(
