In AbNESII, your nation is limited beyond the most basic level by its technological breakthroughs. This thread is to discuss potential technologys on order to advance your nations.

In AbNESII, every single one of the stats below is limited:

Economy (A/I/T)
Army
Navy
Infrastructure
Population
Size
Confidence
Culture

It is obvious how without technologys advances, these stats would struggle to advance beyond a very basic level, and civilizarion stagnated.

Below are the limits on a nation with NO scientific breakthroughs:

Nation Name:~
Capital :~
Leader :~
Government Type:~
Economy (A/I/T) : 3/3/3
Army: Rabble of warriors
Navy: River/Coast hugging boats
Infrastructure: Barely Acceptable
Population: 4
Size: 4
Confidence: Tolerating
Culture : Basic
Wonders : ~

Currently being researched:

Technology.....(cost) : effect ....................................: Nations Researching

Crop Rotation......(4) :Agriculture growth level 4 possible : Panchala

Ceremonial Burial (5):Allows religion greater than 20%.....: Beijing

Alphabet.............(6) : Allows influential culture..............: Odenes

.
Land and Sea Unit Progression Techs:

now now may post - brainstorm ideas/relevant discoverys that would enhance your nation and allow the stats to grow beyond current limits.

Are tech advances then only limited by imagination and plausibility? I.e, if you say they are plausible?

Yes, you can ask for nuclear power now if you want.. but id cost it at 50,000EP i think ;)

Anything you like is possible, but rather than thinking of super duper things, for now think of logical things to allow advances in stats

Such as:

Distributing seed
Crop rotation
Irrigating
Archimedes' screw
Sundial
Winnowing
concrete
Glass blowing
Coin
Cross Bow
aqueduct
Catapult
Iron
Swords
Archery
horse archers
anchor

This list is endless of course, just trying to spring some inventiveness on you, and encourage trade/interaction etc... also we will see different nations concentrating on different things and so lead to greater individuality

So, do you assume that ALL technologies come from the government, or will a new one occaisonally pop up among the people in a nation without government spending?

Well i see your EP as the national output, your being a bit godlike and directing where it will go... i suppose i will occasionally give bonus in such a way. I will keep costs quite low, and dont forget techs are tradeable.

Also in this nes i imagine economys getting larger than most NES (eg 20+EP not impossible)

hintdont forget projects could lower costs...

Well, what do we assume is already known by certain civilizations? It might be perfectly plausible for Banga to have a number of agricultural technologies that the Mongols don't have, while the Mongols would have an enormous slew of metallurgical and military advances that Banga would lack. Think about it...

That would be very difficult to model,

For now, assume you have learnt various things, which have got your civilizaiton to the limits in the OP.. tech's will be required to go futher

OK, so if I understand this when my agiculture level reaches 3, it will stick there unless I discover a related tech that allows me to move higher. So then I would try to discover any of these:

Irrigation (or advanced irrigation)
Crop rotation
Seed collection and storage
Iron plows

Then you would tell me how much it will cost to research each, before I choose which to spend my money on? If I discovered all of them over 4 or more turns, could I advance my agriculture to 7?

Will you be posting the list of stats that are available from some master list? Or can players think up their own?

Military techs:
marching in step
drill
slashing swords
stabbing swords
Various types of armor
Horse breeding
Battlefield command systems (drums, bugles, flags)
Fortified camps
military engineering
Siege techniques
Composite bows
Recurved bows
Pole arms
River crossing techniques

I think I'm understanding this a little better, now that I think about it. When it comes to agriculture, I do believe the first important advance would be one involving water maintenance of some kind, although the type may vary from nation to nation(i.e, flood control for Banga to digging wells and aquaducts for someplace with very little available water). Also, does the nature of the land that a nation controls limit or extend its capacity for agriculture/industry?

Each tech you discover removes the limiting cap. You still have to spend to "implement" the new tech.

Also, does the nature of the land that a nation controls limit or extend its capacity for agriculture/industry?

YES - I am already doing this.. See Moose's nation that has no agricultural score (rubbish desert land, but had overcome this limit by growing trade instead.

Good, good...Would an irrigation system that traps and uses the water from the floods throughout the year feasible? Generally by trapping it in reservoirs and releasing it slowly, rather than all at once. Would be good because the water would also contain plenty of silt, and stuff like that.

of course. The more imagination, the more likely i am to give minor bonus, probably in lowering the implementation costs, or part developement to the next tech.

Also, many nations will not even need to consider this until they hit the limits

Considering that I live in the Prime of India's farmland, for example, I'll probably end up delayed because I have little need for further Agricultural technology.

Subscription post.

also, I have fair infrastructure. do i have some tech meaning that is allowed?
