I have the latest official patch, should i download and install the unofficial one two (have btf by the way)
 
I am using the latest unofficial patch, and it fixes some minor annoyances like the culture not showing up for buildings in the build list. I recommend it.
 
I'd strongly recommend the unofficial patch, as the dead colony bug and the worker city capture bug ruin games if they occur. It also fixes a number of more minor problems.

Absolutely not. Because, after all, obviously if the unofficial patch thread has 70+ pages and is stickied, it must be bad.

Try this article. I assigned it as reading in my Speech Communications class several years ago. At the end is a list of logical fallacies that you may find helpful.
 
I would not install the unofficial patch if you plan to play the xOTM games because you will not be able to play. Otherwise download the unofficial patch.
 
If you play xOTM or GOTM or your mom in local MP, I would make a dupe install and have the unofficial patch in one, and just the official patch in the other.

All you'd need to do is put the unofficial patch in a Mod folder and it will work just fine, if you're playing the xOTM games.
 
ok thanks everyone i have downloaded and installed the patch. i am at the point wre i get kicked around by diffriculty cheiftan so i am spending my working ours reading this forums and checking guides. why work when your at work?

and what is xOTM?

I've played a few games with the official 3.13 patch and the culture wasn't showing up in the build list. I read your response to this thread and wanted the culture reading back. Downloaded Bhruic's unofficial 3.13 patch and it is still not there. I made a back up of my old file, deleted the original and put Bhruic's in the folder just like it said to. What did I do wrong?

Edit: Figured it out.

xOTM is one of the 3 Game of the Month Versions
GOTM=Game of the Month (Vanilla CIV)
WOTM=Warlords GOTM
BOTM=Beyond the Sword GOTM
