When news of Robert Jordan's death (May he rest in peace) came to me, I was of course very sad. I did not expect it and I still believe his books are one of the most complicated fantasy stories I've ever heard of. I love the depth of his books, even though they can be very slow-paced sometimes.
I have decided to honor him, by making a modification to this great game. I do not, however, have the knowledge of creating a mod, nor am I skilled on creating models or various pieces of art.
Do not think ill of me because of this, though, for I have a strong spirit and follow through when I'm decided of something. I will make this mod, and it will be a great one too!
Therefore, I need your help, fellow civilization fanatics. It will start out to be
a simple mod, but when I've learned a thing or two it will start to take shape.
I will now start my brainstorming and ideas.
Any ideas from the community are welcome.
This post, and the following ones, will surely be edited a lot of times.
Now, I have tried to get this kicked off before, but I never knew where to start. It was supposed to be a mini-mod for FFH2 first, but I decided to just make it from scratch.

There are some good stuff in there too, which I will try to keep in mind.
Basic Ideas and Features:
(This list might also be edited, if I change my mind. Remember, this is only an early phase of brainstorming)
More in-depth features and ideas:
(will probably be edited since I'm not really sure about these yet.)

Basic Ideas and Features:
(This list might also be edited, if I change my mind. Remember, this is only an early phase of brainstorming)
- The mod will first of all take place in a scenario, namely the Wheel of Time world
- This will be a complex mod, and mainly war-based. You will be able to do a lot of things that might be confusing for the ordinary Civ player.
- The player will be able to control any "Civilization" he wishes for, all according to the book.
- Each civ will have at least two victory options, be it good or evil (This will probably be improved along the developement cycle)
- The cities in the book are all going to be there, they are not able to be destroyed by any other than the blight, and settlers are not able to be built.
Following up on this in the next list.
More in-depth features and ideas:
(will probably be edited since I'm not really sure about these yet.)
- Another type of worker is able to build different kinds of base camps for their civilization, which will at a steady basis produce warriors, mages, etc, based on the type of camp that is built. This will probably need a lot of work on it and a lot of balancing too. I believe they'll have to be built within cultural borders, and the cost / rate of spawn will be different according to which type of camp you do have.
- The great persons will be able to train to use Magic (Can't really remember what the name of it was, will have to read up on some things too), become specialised killing-machines, or become really valuable support-units.
- Yes, you will be able to use the heroes of the book, and each will be assigned to a civilization. They will all have custom goals, some will have the same, some will have other goals. I'll have to experiment with this one.
- I'm thinking about creating an additional game option, to unlock the factions and make for more interesting game. When this option is activated, even the Blight might ally with Tar Valon. It will probably be unlikely though, but if it happens they will strive for their own goals, still.
