Realistic Celtic and Germanic spearmen (based off reliable resources ;)) which will be appearing in Cultural Diversity whenever I get it released. :)

Use the Charlemagne_PapalSpearman animations and scale :)

Also included is a Germanic Spearman with the Celtic helmet (requested).

Download is here!

Thanks! :) The papal spearman is exactly the same as the crusader from vanilla civ (except with a spear), so pretty much it's that mesh modified in max. I'm not very good at making it from scratch, you see. ;) I did things like shorten the skirt, modify the arms a bit and add entire new heads/helmets... and I edited the cape a little as well.

The head on the germanic one is a slightly modified great engineer head, and the celtic one is a modified warrior head - and the helmet is completely made by me (which is why it's a little higher poly, but not too bad). :)

Edit: I also expanded the chest and the waist a bit.

Really terrific stuff, Chuggi. :goodjob:

What a guy! Thanks Chug! :goodjob:

Explorers next, right?!?!?

No problem :) Can you or someone help me find some medieval pictures of explorers first though? (that way people don't have to have modern explorers early in the game). :)

I'll make the modern ones after I've finished those...

I'll definately shop around... the thing is... the Conquistador Explorer itself is based on 1500s (Renaissance) outfits... Europeans weren't really the "exploring lot" prior to the renaissance, and it may be difficult to find "German" renaissance explorers... Germans didn't really do much colonial work till the 1800s, which is why I included 1800s looking German explorer pictures... I doubt I'll find any German renaissance explorer pics.

However... I suppose ANYTHING is better then a freaking Conquistador for every European nation... so how about this Chug... make a "generic" European renaissance explorer unit that is "non-Conquistador". I've got the perfect model in-mind... how about good old Magellan himself? I think he'd work great for a generic European renaissance explorer (non-conquistador)... then... PLEASE work on the Industrial age English and German explorers (if you can find it in your heart).

Here's Magellan, who I think would make a fine renaissance age non-conquistador European explorer...

I would say the status is about 10% (including art and xml) or so, I really have to start working this month :(

Thanks Wolfy :) Renaissance is good, I'll make him then I'll get to work on the other flavour explorers.

P.S.
I also still say you're "Lewis & Clark" / "Davy Crockett" / "Daniel Boone" look would be fantastic for an explorer model too.

Center guy.

Or something like this (pretty much the same):

Or this... (look at the guy on the left below):

What civ would they be for? Sioux?
The 'Davy Crockett look' would be perfect for explorers from... wait for it... the American Civ!

I don't think anyone would argue a coon-skin-capped, musket-toting king of the wild frontier would be a bad look for an American Explorer.

:goodjob:

EDIT:
Oops... I just noted I pointed to the wrong guy in the pic... sorry... corrected.
