#erebus: the chatroom and meetup room for all things ffh!

Dear fellow addicts to FfH!​

What is it?

#erebus is a registered chatroom on the same server as #civfanatics. It is based on the idea that we need a chatroom to have excellent multiplayer (MP) meetups (because Hamachi can be a big... ), strategy talks and even question times with developers like Kael!

It's a channel maintained by fanatics for fanatics. So come in, say hello and see what's going on! The room is always open and usually you'll find at least a handful of people in there. We might even try to help you with your various questions. But due to the fact that none of us are on the programing team we might not know the desired answer. But we'll sure try to help.


How do I get there?

1) If you have some kind of IRC client (mIRC, miranda, trillian, xchat, ...) you'll find us on: irc.irc-chat.net => #erebus.
2) If you have no bleepin' clue what 1) was about you'll find an easier guide to #erebus in the spoiler.


Current Admins and Ops:

Whenever you come online those guys are your prime target for questions relating to the channel. But that does not mean that they are the only ones you can ask. They might just hang out in the channel and be busy with something else, though. If so, the nicks usually read sth like this: philippe|afk or dot|work or sth akin.
You will also find an operator named Guardian. But he's just a bot for helping to run the channel and to keep it open if and when noone is in.

The very chatroom is still under construction. Therefore it might tend to be boring at the moment. But as always it depends a lot on the people in there. So drop in if you want!

Given that the current users seem to be mostly from europe it might happen that for users from elsewhere the room might seem extraordinarily empty. Don't let that bother you. Just come in and check it out.

absolutely, the room varies from 2 to at peaks 10 persons. We still haven't reached critical mass yet.

Now I'm here, a small piece of a sheut stone. A guy from russia who is a student, has a work and family and still wastes his time playing games >-<.

Now I'm with you, MORTALS!!!

I'd like a good multiplayer game of Civ4. Maybe we can get together a group and make it a weekly thing. Like, 4 people meet up every Tuesday night or something to play one epic game (no, not marathon speed, but with like 8 computers on a normal to large map).

although in this process we will have to take in account that any eventual patches might break the game, so to avoid any patch-related probs, attendancy for that particular MP game will be rather important.

Anyway, I'm feeling #erebus is already a good success, but of course the more the merrier! just drop in, persons who are reading this, cause FFH2 really becomes fun when it's MP!

The chat is really easy to log into and seems pretty active.

There doesn't seem to be many US players, more would always be welcome.

I'm not sure who this "desperate" US player is though, the only person in there who is from the US is... HEY WAIT A MINUTE!

On a more serious note, Philippe, I'm having real trouble getting IIRC working, would love to join you on chat channel, is there any other alternatives as I've tried the options in the OP signatures etc. (go easy as I'm by no means a techogeekwizard)
Like I say, though, I'm 12 hours ahead of GMT, so unless there's any Aussies or Kiwis out there, an MP commitment maybe difficult. Though I could probably manage an all nighter!

Well have you tried to go to the frontpage: www.civfanatics.com, click on chat (next to forum), and in the applet change the channel name from civfanatics to erebus. If it still doesn't work send me an PM, I'll write a tutorial on mirc then how to get to erebus.

Ok, so lets stop talk about avatars and start talk about real stuff...

Once I figured how to use mIRC, it was easy to find #erebus.

We play PvP and PvAI, on various settings. Anyone interested in MP play should come to #erebus.
