Computer reboots after loading/new game

Hi there

I was not aware of this forum, and this is my first post here.

Since last week I've been having this nasty problem. I start (or I load) a game and after some minutes (could span from 2 to 5 minutes) my computer restarts alone! I'm playing BTS updated to 3.13 on 1280 x 1024 with a graphic resolution set to high

This has never happened before and I don't know if it could be that I've changed my graphic card.

I used to play with a NVidia 5500 FX (by BFG) and now I've switched to a NVidia 6800 XE (by Biostar). No overheating or anything as such, temperature within normal parameters.

Any suggestion is highly appreciated because I desperately want to finish off the holy confucianist war with my allies against the heathens

Right-click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup & Recovery Settings > uncheck Automatically Restart

If your machine reboots after upgrading your video card, I'd say your power supply is the problem. Its probably not providing enough juice along the 12V rail. We're talking amps here, not watts. There should be a sticker on the side of the PSU that lists the amps for each of the voltages. You probably want at least 25 amps on the 12V rail, depending on how many devices you have. You're probably good on the 3.3V and 5V rails, but many manufacturers will skimp on the 12V rail.

Thnx. The thing is that only with CIV the PC reboots alone. With no other program it does the same.

Maybe it's overheating? I've read about underclock the card. This is strange because I've installed it as is, that is I haven't overcloked anything.

Well if you really think it is overheating, it should be easy enough to test out. Just pop the cover off and set a floor fan to blow inside the case.

I still think it is your power supply, though.
