Probably one of the most effective RN BB's in the war, I heard the HMS Warspite took part in every major Naval battle the RN participated in in both World Wars?

This Uses the Destroyers animations.

The texture may not be the best, if something is missing say so and I can fix her.

I am glad it looks somewhat ok, maybe because I am tired I thought it was less than that..

I didn't know you could ram submarines... what's next Matt?

Considering it doesn't carry depth charges that would probably be the best way to sink the thing!

Actually though, I took the image with that replacing the destroyer in the default game (using custom assets) and I did not want her duking it out with any sort of Iowa BB, so.. :p

Especially USS Iowa BB4.

Admiral Matt,

i m always a man who repsects your skill and talent. However i will be honest with you and i will say that your last 2 units(the predreadnought and the warspite)are units of low quality, ang generally lower from the high quality you get used to give us.
i m sorry for being strict;i havent create nothing myself;assuming we have free speech thats my opinion.i think they lack flexibility, details, and incorrect colour choices.
many people continue to support you and i am among them.i think you should rebuilt these with more details.an example:watch a pre-dreadnought called"bronenosets"designed by a russian guy here,if i m not wrong.you will see clearly the differences.
i m sure you can do better.

Yah, I thought the skin was a little weird on this one. I lightened it up though, I should post it.

it would be kind of hard to do more detail on the Canopus though, it is quite high poly already. What do you think is exactly wrong with it? On the colours, I used multiple pictures for both the last two, a lot, mostly of models and a few drawings (as colour photography was not around at the time). I do agree the HMS Warspite looked a little bland, but with the lighter colours she looks better.

Edit: Look to the first post for the lighter skin.

RPG@ A Japanese Predreadnought BB, the Mikasa, already started!

The SMS Brandenburg looked pretty darn good!

The HMS Canopus? Well, blame the British... they have really bad choices in color schemes...

I'm sure the IJN Mikasa will be much higher quality... I believe in Matt!

A great looking ship, some may not like the colours, but navies aren't exactley known for creativity in colour . . . . "Admiral, shall we paint her sea grey, dark gray or gull grey?"

As to the ship a couple of nit picks, the main deck ends in a taper running forward from the X Turret to sides of the ship, like you have forwards around B Turret. Also, you have the faceted hull for casemate guns is well modeled but adding the 8 (4 per side)casemate 6" guns Warspite carried in this period would greatly improve her appearence.

I have to say for a naval history fanatic like myself, your ship models have vastly improved the game for me, so I'm just trying to be constructive.

It may be hard to see but those guns are there, they are just probably too small to see ingame.

I wasn't sure about the deck either, though if I thought about it I could probably have seen it in my images. Is it enough to warrant a redo? Like just touching up the model?

Yes, now that I look at it in game I can see the guns when I zoom in close enough. Good Stuff!

As for the quarter deck to main deck transition, its more accurate and I think it just looks better that with the taper. Now granted one of my ancestors served on Warspite at Jutland and I've been fanatical about this ship since I was you sooo. . . its up to you as to whether to redo or not.

The taper can be seen in some of the pictures on this site: http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/warspite.htm if you look at Warspite's similarly modernized sister Valiant you can see it a bit better from the angle we deal with in civ.

Cheers

Ahh, I see the taper, don't know why I did not see it on the blueprints..
Very cool about your ancestors, all I know was that most of my ancestors had health problems and they would not take them in the WW's.. Though I think I had one at the battle of Hastings for the Normans.

Ok, now I obviously like this one, my name... enough said ;)

Almost all WWII ships had wooden decks, and that includes Battleships (even the Bismarck)...

One has to remember a wooden deck isn't all that thick... the armored decks of battleships layed below the wooden top decks.

It is amazing how many people have ancestors who served in the wars. My one grandfather (or was it great grandfather?) volunteered for service in the Second World War but he had health issues. All I know is that I had a couple Great-Uncles who served in the First World War..

Oh well, glad you guys like the model.
