Now I am working on a huge balance and units/buildings addon version.

This version presents a different experience from previous version in the late game

1. make it more realistic to contemporary development

2. In previous version, player will feel it is quite easy to get to the future, and resticted options forming your army


In this patch, the future "things" are epic enough to be achieved, but rewardable.



Air force & Navy are much more useful than it was in villia CIV4 and BT3

It is quite simple to make it come true

modern and future ship can bombard land unit (use some air attack trick)
and you have to make formidable navy to get rid of emeny's attack from the sea.
Planes are much more powerful than it was. They can inflict 100% damage.


3. many empires are quite different from previous version, which means different playing styles.

4. other changes will be presented when the new version released.

if there is no CTD (crashed to desktop) problem with Mylon's Large city mod, you could use Mylon's Large City Mod and overwrite BT3 file. (Mylon's Large City Mod fits BT3 perfectly, but many people will encounter CTD problem with the mod. Hope Mylon figure out what is going on and fix it in the near future!)

Better Tomorrow (BT3) is a Total Conversion Mod. (especially conception are heavy converted, and BT3 encourage player to play from industrial age for better game experience)

BT3 is a role playing game, do what you want!

BT3 focus on 8 main features, traits& people, HDI, Environment, Alternative Unit Workshop, 4 economic type, UN transaction, Role Playing, and a better tomorrow.

BT3 also have three Main Themes to fit your playing style! (see attachment)

Player also can use ColdFever's Blue Marble(TM) mod for better graphics!

Recommanded Starting Age: Renaissance Age or Industrial Age

Players still can play BT3 from the ancient age without any problem, but they may feel not much civic options for them in the early age.

8 Key Features!

Interesting Traits + People (Unique Building, Python Mechanism designs, & etc) = New Civ4 experience

* Civilization: American have powerful Fiber Optic Network that can give you free specialist/ per Town! (similar effect as National Park)

And, the first Key Feature is what I have done in [warlord]Better Tomorrow, and rest 7 new key features is first introduced in BT3!



2. Human Development:

civic: HDI + Health/Happiness mechanism design = Specialized city is Inhumanity (and less useful, too)

Human Development Index (HDI) is the normalized measure of life expectancy, literacy, education, standard of living, and GDP per capita for countries worldwide. It is a standard means of measuring well-being, especially child welfare. It is used to determine and indicate whether a country is a developed, developing, or underdeveloped country and also to measure the impact of economic policies on quality of life. -Wikipedia

To maintain a high level (and same level in every city!) Health/Happiness is cruical. Civic: HDI is a powerful lever enhancing your people's disposition.

To be specialized cities or not to be, is also a question. Mylon's Large City mod offer players a great opportunity to forge a uber specialized city and centralized country. However, civic: HDI encourage players to keep all cities balanced, and well developed.

Grab as many Happiness/Health as you can. Happiness/Health represent your human development Index, and you use them to exchange better population quality. Player also can "reduce" their populations to get better CIVIC:HDI options.

3. Environmental Care:

civic: Sustainable Development + Resource Depletion Event(in progress) + Climate Change Event(in progress) = Look when you Leap

Climate change is the variation in the Earth's global climate or in regional climates over time. It involves changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere over durations ranging from decades to millions of years. These changes can be caused by dynamic process on Earth, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities. -Wikipedia

Environmental issue is a serious problem in the present day. With Human development, there are many thing we left behind, the green land, the resource from the mother Gaia, and the respect to the Nature. We are on the turning point, and it's time for us to do what we can.

Effect(++)
Animism: No effect
Pre-industrial Age: Improvements will collapse in a certain chance
Industrial Age: Resource depletion, Climate Change
Consumer Age: Resource depletion (Especially Oil), Climate Change greatly
Green Economics: No effect

(NOTE: When Resource Depletion Event & Climate Change Event are completed, I will enhance the civic: Industrial Age & Consumer Age)

4. Alternative Unit Workshop:

Armory + Advance Research Lab. + "Broken Star: Buy Promotion" + Tons of Extentable Promotions + Lots of coin$ = Buy your way to Victory!

Armory, Advance Research Lab. will provide the unit produced in this city with certain promotions such as weapon support, and Advanced Weapon. With these promotion, unit can access many special promotions such as Depleted Uranium Shell, Perfect Stealth, and so on.
(I will extent more promotions in the following patch, such as air refueling, JDAM, and more!)

"Broken Star: Buy Promotion" also included in BT3.
If you have a lots of money like America, then go to tailor your goddamn strongest army, Gerneral!



5. 4 Economic type:
Spoiler :

SE + CE +WE +GE +TE = more choices to be a King.

WE= Workshop Economics
GE= Genetics Age Economics (Genetic Plantation + Terra Transformation + Rare Material Refinery + Deuterium Refinery)
TE = Trade Route Economics

Workshop is greatly improved (from +1 hammer to +2 hammer), but cottage is still crucial to future development.

GE is also a viable solution to victory. When one's lands are razed and ruined in the middle of game, he have better to choose WE or GE rather than CE.

Trade route also play an important role. Globalization+Fiber Optic Networks+Airpot can be a serious commerce income!

Genetic Plantation is powerful, but it causes an extra unhappiness as well

Player can also perform terra transformation! Worker now can build "terra transformation". When improvement is completed, next turn transformation will be completed. Desert become plain, and plain become grassland.



6. UN transaction:

Civics + more option in UN Transactions = most powerful WMD

Civics plays a pivot role in BT3, so use UN transaction to change others' civic choice is also a important step to victory!

Force a bad-educated people (few cottage, unhappy & bad health) to adopt Democracy + Press Freedom? Install a new governemt? That will be a DISASTER!

or IMF forces a nation to change her currency? to change her economic policy? Russian is a very good example in 5 years ago!



7. To be a tyrant, or to be a nice king?

civic: Political Freedom/Totalitarianism + civic: Third International/Globalization/Humanitarian Aid + civicOption:Human Development Index + NGO, Humanitarian = You are what you choose!

* Non-Governmental Organization & Humanitarian are new concept in Civilization.
* Civic:Totalitarianism grant each city a "Big Brother is Watching You!" (++)
* Civic:Totalitarianism now will eliminate all NGO!(++)
* Civic:Cult of Personality now will eliminate all NGO!(++)
* Civic:Humanitarian Aid displays that "Penalty for Civs without Humanitarian Aid". In fact, Civs without Humanitarian Aid will get happiness bonus (reverse effect of "Emancipation"), which represents what "Humanitarian Aid" means.

8. The Future will be Better Tomorrow:

Railgun + obital insertion + civic:Cybernetic Society + near future weapon + extentable promotions = Operations is now a precise surgery

Invention of Railgun change the war that we think about. Railgun is a powerful weapon that can penetrate any object, and deal great collateral damage. Railgun troop can deal 5-8 units in the same time, 100% collateral damage, and it is time to rethink when place all troop in the same square.

Obital insertion means you can strike any place at any time, and any tactical weakness may bring players into destruction! Move carefully, General!


civic: A Better Tomorrow + 25 future tech + 20+ building +13 new units + 20 new promotions = A BITTER, or a BETTER tomorrow?

With powerful future tech, players can lead his country to Eudaemonia, or Borg-like society. Many decision is an unturning point, which makes the late game become more bloody.

1. Which civilization?

*Focus on your advantage. eg.

**Most of European Country (England, French, German, Rome...etc) have very powerful unique National Wonders (and I want to extend more!), and circle of philosophy, build them wisely.


**American have powerful "Melting Pot", and then focus your research in Fiber Optics.
** "Melting Pot" provide +1 free specialist per town!!!
**American is weak at early age, but uber powerful in the modern and future age.
** Just Cottage


**Russian have many pioneers (aka settler) at start. Occupy the resourceful point!


**Indian have many unique buildings and unique playing style! Use more citizens and high level cultural rate!


**War is bad for Taiwan people, and try to keep as many foreign trade route!


**Chinese have Uber farm, uber fishing trap, and uber workshop, make good use of them.


**Japan have very powerful units, check it out!

* Focus in one streamline of future tech. Chase two rabbits and you will lose them both!

*NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) is just a sheet of paper. (continue your WMD secretly, er?)

Wow. I haven't attacked yet, but when I do I think those Immortals are going to be dangerous.

The late game tech tree is amazing. Really great work.

the monuments eg. "Slavery is Power" is used for BT2.
When I release the civic option file of BT2, you will know what is that for.


and BTW, the newest version is out, and civ:Taiwan is also included!

the bug is Mylon's Large City Mod (v0.94), it crashes the game when founding the first city. Mylon himself said there is a problem with it and is working on a solution for it. Untill Mylon's mod is removed from the mod I won't be playing it either

It's very said to hear about the bugs. I will release two version from now on, one is without Mylon's mod, and one is with Mylon's mod. Mylon really do a great job, and I hope this problem will be solved very soon.
 
Thanks fuch1141, as soon as the 2nd version is out, i'll try it. the mod looks very good. the problem with mylon's mod is that it effects about 25% of the players, anyone with vista ops, and a few other people.
 
Can Mylon's mod be disabled in the config file ?

Mine's not crashing by the way.
