Bug or feature??

I played a game a couple of days ago when something new happened (new to me anyways)

Settings:
Monarch
Aggressive AI
Pangea

A while into the game a group of barbarian horsearchers appeared and took an egytian city just south of my border. They continued towards me, and I sent in a couple of extra defenders. I then had 4 defenders and he had three horsearchers (partially wounded).
Then they arrived and took my city WITHOUT ANY BATTLE. My forces just got placed outside my city. The horsearchers continued north and left the city empty. I reloaded and tried several times and the same happened.

Is this part of a random event. Is it impossible to stop them or am I victim of a strange buggie?

That's quite clearly a bug.

You should report it with your savegame in the bug section... Sounds weird

I've experienced something similar once, only my troops were not inside a city, but in enemy territory right outside their city. On the first turn, I just bombed the city defenses. When the AI finished its turn, all of my troops were pushed one step backwards. Reloading produced the same over and over again. It seems like the same bug, but it's obviously far more irritating when it happens inside your city and you lose it as a result.

I was quite annoyed. I dont have the savegame anymore. They are not excatly flooding us with patches so I dont see the point in saving it. Well, I have moved on to lose another game

I suppose it goes without saying you are using the most recent patch and no mods right?

For myself, I think it was after the latest patch, though I'm not 100 percent sure. No mods except BUG and blue marble, neither of which affect gameplay in any way

The same just happened to me, and almost exactly as you described. I had a stack of archers in a city ready to fend off a stack of barbarian horse archers and my defenders just teleported away to leave the city undefended.

Fortunately I have a save available and so I've put the details in the bug report forum.
