This is a Astute, the Royal Navies new attack sub.

I finally managed to get unlazy and finish her (after starting like 3 month before, on a request). She prooven to be quite a beast - the distinktive nose is hard to get right - i.e. since the small scale of the units in the game makes details hard to spot. Also there was not a lot of good refence around, so some details might be a bit off.

I am also still not 100% happy with the textures. Sure, modern sub's are suppsed to be black... still - could use more detail and be somewhat brighter. However this is the best i seem to be able to do right now...

~ 750 faces, Damage Texture (Barely Visible - burn marks on black...), Button and Animation are included.
fScale ~ 0.45. There is a shader (FX) and a non-shader (normal) NIF included, both having team color.
I would also suggest to change the <fRangedDeathTime> to 0.6 or 0.75 since my death animation is a bit longer, but this is not necessary.
there are two variants of the texture included too choose from - the brighter one seen in the screenshot and darker one - more realism less detail.

Good one! (But, apart from a Black Hole, nothing is ever completely black - consider the black panther, where muscle movement will he highlighted in sunlight; so I 'd say some gray would be fine to bring out - or accentuate - certain details.);)

Nice looking unit, especially since it is animated. I have one complaint with the animation though. When it attacks, it rushes into the unit it is attacking, like it's ramming it. Anyway to make it back off a bit?

Also thanks for including a button. Makes it so much easier to add units when a new cool model comes out, and has a button. So much easier, like hours more easier.

Unfortunately, this is how animation work, and it's controled by the engine for the most part - compare with the original Attack Sub. I.e. Sub vs. Sub does look ugly, since they attack frontal.

You can mediate it a little bit, if you reduce <fScale>0.35</fScale> or if you increase <fBattleDistance>0.55</fBattleDistance>.

EDIT: I made her a bit brighter. At least damage texture should be visible now.
Checked the animation just to make sure nothing messed up. She will not ram surface ships when attacking.
As i said - Sub vs. Sub battles apparently are "supposed" to look so - no way to fix it from the model, other than make it smaller (maybe a good idea anyway - then again she's a huge beast in real). Perhaps some of the XML-people can come up with something (does "<RangedCombat>" tag from art defines work on naval units ?).

Actually, this can be helped.
In the artdefines there's a line for the unit like BattleDistance or something like that (I'm not at home now so I cannot check), try increasing it a bit.

Marvelous work on the Boat sir!

Looks great Refar! Maybe the Virginia class or Seawolf might be on your list soon?

*crosses fingers*

Thank you Toryn.
As to Virginia/Seawolf - there are even on my list somewhere, however the chances to actually get them done are slim at best - that list is just too long. Too many projects, to few time.

I would suggest, requesting them in the Unit Request thread, where they might catch the attention of someone else.
