"We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end.
We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and the oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air,
we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be.
We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender."
- Winston Churchill, June 1940
Im putting forward this BTS Roleplaying Challenge as an open challenge for everyone to have a go at rather than a progressively played single game. Although Churchill first appeared in the Warlords expansion pack, this game is presented as a BtS save (patched to 3.13 with Bhruic's patch).
Winston begins the game with instructions from His Majesty;
Therefore the house rules that the player must self-impose:
- No Caste System.
- Can not build Libraries (and therefore Universities, National Epic, The Great Library).
- Can not declare war on anyone (self initiated or by invitation from another tribe) until Alphabet is acquired.
Unlike some past BTS Roleplaying Challenges, there are no restrictions regarding diplomatic arrangements with the AI tribes.
The default difficulty level is set Monarch. Players used to more difficult levels are invited to demonstrate successful strategies (or indeed add further restrictions of their own). The map is a normal sized Pangaea:
Note that both Random Events and the Diplomatic Victory (a.k.a. The Winston Hughes nightmare!
) options have been turned off.... and the start;
Wrapped in spoiler tags participants are invited to post their saves, and importantly outline their strategies for the benefit of others ... after all, this is the Strategies and Tips Forum!
I understand that some CivFanatics members prefer slower speeds, different difficulty levels and so forth, so while the above (normal speed Monarch) game is the default for this thread, discussions with other settings through playing the game from a World Builder start are nonetheless welcomed.
Please enjoy the game I look forward to seeing some good wins and getting insight into successful strategies.
Just on the intent behind the game set up and strategic thinking;
). Expecting us to stand the test of time, while They sit in they comfy palace, sip tea, make strange rules and - best off all - claim that those strange rules we self-imposed on our selfes.
/Turn is at the moment enought to outspy everyone. I distribute evenly for the time beeing - must get some basic espionage towards everyone to see how they are doing.

), but only after getting a settler out.

. Flank HA are semi ok attacking them when they're defending cities, but they suck utterly otherwise against the elephants (interestingly despite ivory I decided not to use elephants, relying entirely on the speed and ridiculous withdrawals that HA's get).

The no slavery restriction hurt a little here ... We take our city back:

. You said you changed this to marathon. That means the reverse is also possible. Can I get RPC's that are on marathon/epic to normal speed? How did you do this
