As smjjames has pointed out in the FfH2 0.31 Bug Thread it would be good to know whether or not some of the CTD's and OOS's we're all bearing with are OS related or not.

The patch in question is D. Please specify when you're using another patch.

I am well aware that the results of this poll might not be of any help at all. And yet, it is worth a try.

The options are hopefully phrased fairly clear. Options rephrased in post #2. If none of the options seems suitable for you pick the radioactive monkey and specify in a post.

Spoiler radioactive monkey :
If you indeed need to specify please give at least the following information:

OS: whatever
CTD's: yes/no/other
OOS's: yes/no/other

Text - if needed.

Please do not discuss in this thread!

Thank you for participating. ;)

The poll is multiple choice and public! --- It will be closed on April, 23rd.

REQUEST from Kael:

It would be helpful to me if people listed their directX version (dxdiag will tell you).

Well, after looking at the poll again:

never = seldom to never
seldom = regularly but not that it makes the game totally unplayable
very frequent = almost not possible to play the game

;)

OS: WindowsXP pro 64-bit edition

Most CtD are usually due to known issues. I've had some that randomly crashes to the desktop for no reason but that usually involves my buggy OS (happens in other games as well). After cleaning up my system and doing some maintenance, I can play crash free for a week or two (or until the next new thing I install).

Mine is usually very stable, but not when I'm modding it. I'm still not sure what is causing some CtDs that always happen before the game even finished loading on 2 versions of my modmod for .30. (I'm using xp media center addition)

I picked Monkey. I'm a Vista user. I get CTD's/OOS' (so far) rare to never unless I'm playing Sheim then its Always

I'm using Vista and my game crashes when i switch to Hyborem and a few turns after i found Dis and the Hell terrain spreads. :S

edit: i'm running on Directx 10, Vista Home Premium 6.0

I chose the radioactive monkey for fun, lol, unless you didn't want that.

Anyways, I don't do multiplayer, so I can't say anything about the OOS's

I picked both of the seldom choices for vista because about the only crash I've had seems to be related to Hyborem and the burning sands, but the exact reason is not known. It might even be indirectly the burning sands and it's some other bit of code interacting with it that is making it crash. While I might choose the never because it is an uncommon crash, but it's a consistent one, so it goes in seldom.

I have Vista Home Preminum and DX10.

I'm running Vista and was rarely able to finish a game as a crash would occur in the late game... no windows automated solutions found. I recently tried reducing graphics options to lowest settings and am able to progress games much further now without CTD. Maybe this will be the solution for me? Now I just need time to play these long games again.
BTW, my graphics card is... I forget, but decent (5.1 Vista performance). I would not have suspected my recently purchased card to be a problem.

Have you tried playing on a small map? This would be interesting to know if you crash. For example I have an out of memory error (or something like that) when I play my very huge game and want to reload a saved game on XP (I have to restart Civ4 entirely)... So perhaps the problem is even more accute on Vista. Also you can try saving every 10 turns, quit the game, and then reload, on large maps, if you don't crash, this can be because of memory leaks or how Vista handle memory & civ4.

XP 32 bit, dx 9.0c. It can crash to desktop in the late game, but it's just me squeezing too much out of an aging system. BtS does the same, so it's a no-issue for me.

As many people as can reply to this the better to help us isolate issues. Even if you aren't seeing any issues its as important to know who it doesn't effect as who it does.

For those of you with Vista CTD's please try installing DX9.0C. You can find out the link for it in the Hyborem crash thread on this same forum. It should fix NEW crashes but does not appear to fix saved games.

Don't worry about it overwriting DX10. I installed 9.0C and I'm still able to play Crysis fine:lol:

Haven't had a CTD since switching to patch D. A and b gave me some trouble though, but I assume whatever it was got fixed. (I use XP)

XP.

Thanks to a horsehockey sound implementation, it randomly craps out when starting up and reboots my computer. The joy of kernel access...

OOS...

Multiple times a game, never have figured out what the hell is going on with most of them. This last game was a three person game so we actually know who screwed the pooch on it since his is the only version showing different numbers.

Unfortunately we still have no idea what caused it, he said he built a city that turn, nothing unusual. Possibly a hidden spider on the build tile? I noticed they don't bump off the tile anymore.

Crown of akharien. Build it, no problem, move it, game over. It will OOS every turn till hell freezes over. I'm almost sure I moved the lyre before though, so I don't know why.

There are a bunch of instances where I just have no idea what happened, trying to figure out what caused an OOS in a 2 person game is next to impossible. I have a feeling most of them are caused by invisible units not being bumped off the tile when enemy walk over them.

Two different computers first computer amd 1.8ghz 3.0ram x1300 w/512mbram video card running win xp dx 9.0c ctd rare say every 250-300 turns, no idea why, not reproduceable.

just bought a new computer quad 2.4ghz pent 3.0ram radeon 2400HD 2/256mbram video card running dx 10 ctd very common, probably every 30-40 turns. I had to select install direct x9 when installing game just to get it to run, but it is not acknowledging it on computer. tried dling and installing dx9 from hyborem thread but it has not made a difference either.

Running XP, DX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904), I get very few CTDs, and those I do get seem to recover just fine when I reload. Haven't lost a game since ... before 0.30 anyway.

Not tried MP, so no OOS comment

Direct x 9.0c, with 0.31 seldom CtDs that are sometimes not reproducible and sometimes are. Before 0.31 haven't had any.
