This four-aircraft Korean Air Force pack is based on the excellent models of Dutch King and the Coyote. The purpose of this pack is to provide nation-specific aircraft for the country of Korea in the 1st-half of the 20th century... a time that Korea was occupied by the Empire of Japan.

Historically, Korea had no military of its own during this time-frame... but obviously for Civ4 gaming purposes, Korea does have its own military, so this pack provides Korea with one.

Taking an example of European "satellite states", I am giving Korea equipment built by Japan, but flown by a Korean Air Force. I am also "attempting" to use Japanese equipment that is not "instantly recognized" as Japanese... or perhaps the default Japanese planes... this is of-course a lot of assuming on my part, but if your Japan in Civ4 is using Zeros, Vals and Bettys for Fighters, Light Bombers and Bombers respectively, then this pack avoids duplicating that... if not... oh well... you still got Korean markings!

Once again... all due credit to Dutch King (Ki-10 early fighter, Ki-21 bomber & Kate light bomber) and The Coyote (Ki-61 fighter) for these models... all I did was add the Korean Taegeuk in-place-of the Rising Sun emblem on the wings.

Korea now has an Air Force you can use for the 1st half of the 20th century! (It makes more sense then Spitfires and Lancasters).

When I saw the "Korean Air Force Pack" in the downloads side bar I thought it must be another pixel spam of Civ III units. :p But I clicked on it anyway. :)

So all you did was replace the ensign? :p That's not much work. They still look good nevertheless, the top two especially.

When did I ever say it was a lot of work? None of the tanks I reskinned were either.

Korea had no air force until after WWII. So there's absolutely nothing to base anything on other then an assumption of what they might have had if they were an independent nation for the 1st-half of the 20th century.

All I'm trying to do is provide the community with some nation-specific units for nations that don't have anything specific to them... or did I miss the other Korean AF pack that somebody else put-out previously? :mischief:

In your mod... what aircraft do the Koreans fly? Spitfire fighters? Lancaster bombers? Just asking... they have to be flying something.

Unless I'm missing something, not one person in this community has attempted to give "Ethnic Diversity" or "Cultural Diversity" or flavor units of any kind for Korea prior to 1950...

I'm trying to rectify that...

No... didn't offend at all... just trying to explain what/why I did with this. My skills are extremely limited... but I've been looking around at nations that haven't had anything done for them yet... Korean Air Force, Persian tanks... etc, etc, etc. I figured most people probably haven't done anything for the Korean AF... my guess is most mods have them flying the default Civ4 fighters and bombers (which are based on English aircraft). I figured if Korea were independent during WWII and had their own air force, they probably would have purchased/licensed them from the nearest major power... in this case, Japan... and/or if Japan gave its colony a little more freedom and allowed them to fly their own planes, once-again, it would be planes from Japan. Ergo the planes and the markings. These are things I can do with what little skills I have.

Interesting idea. Will you be including unique Jet Fighters (perhaps MiGs on loan from the Russians) for the more advanced aircraft? :)

Well... there's your problem... the "default" jet is the F-16... which is flown by South Korea. So you don't actually need to do anything for modern Korea if you assume "Korea" means South Korea, just use the team F-16 already in the game.

If on the other-hand you're thinking "North Korea"... then yeah... you need MiGs... of course, we already have some team-color and "red-star" MiGs (like the MiG-21) which would work just fine for North Korea... so you don't really need anything special for modern Korea. The only real question you have to ask, is if you're assuming "Korea" in modern times is based-off of North or South Korea.

I avoided that whole question and just provided a Korean Air Force for the 1st half of the 20th century... which IMHO, should be based on Japanese aircraft.

So here it is.

Ah, I see, that's a good point. Well, if you add extra air units in your Wolfshanze mod, I suppose you could be "balanced" and use planes from both sides, though it would be a very strange combination to say the least!

Guees this fine pack is in your mod ver 2.69.
If not how will I include it AND have you seen the Eurocopter Tiger Coyote just made.
Super to get that into your fine mod. But still I´m still stupid to not handling adding units.

Actually no... this pack isn't in v2.69 (it's slated for the next release). As usual, just putting out a new version of my mod usually inspires somebody to make more models soon after I release my mod (even if it's me!). All my other models are in v2.69 though... including my German General and all those tanks I released in the past week or two.

Releasing mod versions is like upgrading your computer... you're always waiting for the next "release" to make things better and more efficient (or cheaper), and if you are always waiting for the "next thing", you'll never release what you have... so if a whole month goes by, I tend to release regardless... because there's always next month to release another version!
