How exactly do I use auto-bombard?

I've been trying to get a stack of artillery all bombard a city without having me do it individually for each one, but the damn auto-bombard button isn't working or I'm doing it wrong.

Can someone kindly tell me how to use it properly because I have no desire to bombard a city individually with my 100 artillery guns.
 
If you have 100 arty pieces, there should be no need for a second round of bombardment.

However, to answer your question, simply press the auto-bombard button then indicate the square you wish to bombard by clicking on it; unfortunately, the first time around it is no quicker than manual bombardment.
 
I wrote a script (auto hot keys) to do that.
Problem is that you have to be sure, that all Arty work one by one, otherwise result may be wrong.
 
Auto bombard is kind of a waste, if you ask me. To the OP, I think if you have that many artillery and you are on the offensive, auto bombardment shouldn't be necessary, your artillery should red-line all enemy units, you take the city, rinse and repeat.
 
I think the OP wants to be able to tell all 100 Artillery to bombard with only 1 command. Auto-bombard just tells 1 Artillery to bombard the same square every turn.
