Well I haven't missed school days just to play it, but I've screwed over homework to

Anyways, I put in none, but that's not 100% accurate as I said above.

Eh not class but homework and stuff has put me back in the past a few times. I picked 3-5 days though none of those had me literally skipping a class.

missed an afternoon class a few times by starting up a game after an early one and losing track of time

I play Civ4 on Fridays, weekends & vacations (Semester, Christmas or Summer Vacation).

When the boss is on vacation I will bring my laptop and play civ at work. I play in windowed mode so i can hide it real quick. At my last job i played everyday. Being a systems admin means i get left alone most of the time unless something breaks so it give me more civ time. My current job is tricky as my cube isn't very private si i have to play when no one is here.

Wow! Sid Meier would be proud... maybe.

LOL. Back in the CIV III days, I missed a few days of work. I guess I am more "mature" :mischief: now, I think I have only called off work once for CIV IV . . .

Never missed any days of class because of civ and I always finish my homework... or at least the stuff that's due the next day (i.e. I've never gotten In trouble over anything but have sometimes ended up doing all my homework on one day

Ah, the memories... when Civ the original came out, I didn't own a PC (sold my 286, haven't bought my 486 yet...) and I found this nice little game at a friends home. Oh, the sorrow, oh the pain... I played 11 hourse straight the first time, began on the afternoon (must've been around 7 or 7.30...) and I kept playing until the sun came in through the window. That first night I missed a date due to civ (damn cell phones hadn't been marketed so I couldn't notify the girl that I was *sick*) but we set up for next evening, when I saw her at work (she was a secretary at the TV network I was working for). Next day (=after a quick shower and a cup of cofffee or two) at work I was pathetic. I got a colleague to cover for me, and went straight to my friends home (after I picked up his key). Played another 8 or 9 hour session, then fell asleep for 4-5 hours, then played straight 12 hours. Missed the second date too :D Didn't show up at work next day (guess what I was doing...).

That was it. A serious case of 3-day addiction, then it transformed into a mild addiction. It almost hit me again with Heroes of might and magic 2, but not quite. The third more serious case was when Shogun total war came out. That's it. For the past 8-9 years, I haven't had a sever addiction case whatsoever.

civ isnt worth that kind of thing.

Well...I have a union job with unlimited sick time, but they lock you down in your house and check to make sure you're there so that you can't scam the system by, say, going to the beach for the day. Now, I've never called in sick just to stay home and play Civ (that'd be pretty sad), but once locked down at home and with nothing else to do...:D

A few weeks ago, I legitimately injured my back at work and was locked down at home for nine days (yes, that includes what would've normally been my days off; I said, they lock you down) and I spent it wrapping up a Huge/Marathon game I'd been working on for about a month prior. When you play in snatches of an hour or two, here and there, you don't realize how much time you spend on this thing like you do when you play for two days straight and have only gone from your Riflemen Rush to your Infantry Rush.
