Many of you may remember a couple of years ago when Apolyton hosted the ApolyCon. Well, we're looking at possibilities to hold another one, only this time it will be called CivCon. Currently we’re considering the summer of 2009 and would like your input. We would like to hear from those of you who plan on attending and what dates would you be able to attend? We will be holding the CivCon in Baltimore again.

What is a CivCon you ask? Well let's take a look at some of the activities from ApolyCon 2006.
  • There were several workshops hosted by Firaxis, Big Huge Games, and members of Apolyton. Some of the previous workshops were in regards to democracy, modding, the prototyping process for civ4, and many more.
  • There were Q&A and autograph sessions with some of the "celebrity" civvers (yes, Sid Meier was one of them).
  • Of course you can't have a Con about Civ without having games going on! LAN, MP, board games, poker!
  • Firaxis provided attendees with an exclusive play preview of the then-to-be released Warlords expansion!
The poll is single choice, so pick the date you are sure you would be able to attend. If you don't plan on attending, please don't vote on any of the dates. If none of the dates are to your liking and you wish to attend, please state what date(s) you would prefer.

For those of you would are considering attending CivCon, is there any specific workshops you would like to see hosted, any workshops you would like to host, or any other event that you would like us to have?

If you prefer not to post it publicly, feel free to PM me.

I would like to see a workshop or should I say a dunking booth (or torture chamber) where civers can have a chance to dunk the programers who have made the last few patches for BTS!!!! First give the programers a chance to explain their reasoning behind releasing patches that have effectively ruined MP because of OOS issues and if at anytime the programers bring up CivRev or any other new game in development (rather then whats being done to fix BTS) the civer is allowed to taser or shoot the programer with a paintball gun at point blank range. Then after the excuses the programer is sent to the dunking booth (or torture chamber) or perhaps sent back to work so that the next patch will actually work with little to no errors. Just an idea.....

Actually, I doubt I could make it and since me and the people I used to play with never play anymore because the oos issues there wouldnt be much sense in coming to civcon since the game is broken. Just wished my favorite game wouldnt always be ruined because of patches.:goodjob:

depends where it is.

If its in the States I won't attend (should have read more closely BALTIMORE)

if its Amsterdam...hell yeah

Reread Methos' post:

Did you really expect it to be in Amsterdam (meaning Firaxis would have to travel overseas just to get to it)? ;)

I was expecting many to say they wanted a dunking booth where the moderators were the targets. ;) I'm not sure of the possibility, but perhaps we could consider a booth where questions can be raised regarding certain problems or considerations. Note though, even if we were to have such a booth, and I'm not saying we are, they may not be able to answer certain questions.

As stated in the OP, it will be held in Baltimore.

try patch 3.17 oos is fixed OR play without random events (that caused the oos problem)

Baltimore....sigh...Amsterdam is better ;p

I just looked at the manual that came with BTS and in it it says that random events will be a new feature for the game I PAID for. Now I have looked before and will look again but I doubt I will find a section in the manual that states that future patches will cause OOS issues or that a feature I had thought was part of the PURCHASE PRICE of the game would have to be turned off because of patches of mass destruction. The last few PMD"S (patches of mass destruction) have really turned alot of people from civ and I refuse to buy CivRev mostly because the game I own doesnt even work.

What I dont get is why the PMD's arent tested more before being released? I would be willing to test them to see if they work.

I changed my mind I will come if there is a dunking booth or if we are allowed to taser the makers or PMD's.

dude, be thankfull that they make patches afterall, who wants their games to work perfect when you buy them

btw. nice anti unhappiness idea

taser brigade (makes 1 citizen content instead of unhappy)

I actually would like my games to work when I buy it??? Do you really prefer for it not to work when you buy it? I could bet that most people like for things to work rather then not work when they spend money on items.

Obvioulsy Im joking about tasing the makers of PMD's but when the people you have been playing civ with for years refuse to play again because of PMD's it does kinda upset you.

ya sure you betcha but depends on where it is

Baltimore seems a likely location, and summer a likely time.

I'm interested. Is this a one-day event , a long weekend or what?

Baltimore huh, missed that one sorry. probably not then. too far away. go west coast somewhere and i'm there.
