Welcome to my next RPC game, "Will the Real Suryavarman Please Stand Up" or as it is commonly called, "Bring in the Suryavarman Clones?". These RPC's are meant to be entertaining as well as educational. Be forewarned, there shall be NO educational aspect to this one, we are playing on a Fantasy board with crazy resources and Toroidal map against 6 other Suryavarmans with Random personality. A good chance for everyone to laugh at old Mad Scientists attempt to play the game.

Suryavarman II is an odd customer. All the members of CivFanatics Inc have determined he is crazy and have expelled him from the world! He is stuck inside an insane computer generated world, with 6 incomplete clones of himself. Incomplete meaning all random personalities are in play.

His goal is to build a Virtual Space Ship to escape this insane world OR kill the other clones completely.

So the rules
1) We can only win via Space or Conquest.
2) We must play as the Suryavarman in BTS would play as the AI. Meaning agressive Militarily, a bit of a religious Zealot, favors LOT's of Military, and needs to stay in the OR civic all game!

Otherwise we can play as we see fit.

Settings

Monarch/Marathon Speed
Fantasy Map with crazy resources and Toroidal map (what exactly does that mean??)

Well, too bad the Oasis on a hill is NOT in the BFC but the forrested silver is.

OK, do we need BW to build improve the silver mine? Can I mine Oasis Hill? Can I farm the Ice? How did I get talked into this insane world?

Tell, can I get some fish on a river tile???

Suryavarman II :p

The toroidal wrap means that if you sail north, you'll end in the south of the map, pretty much like if you sail west you will get to the east part of the map. It is like the surface of a Donut ;)

I am a little dumbfounded at the toroidal map, but I would send the scout to that Oasis hill to see what is to the south and then decide on city placement depending on what you see.
This looks to be a rather quirky but fun RPC. GO MAD!

Looks like a really intresting map. Lets hope for riverside Food Plain gem :D

He he this looks like fun, i hate fantasy map though, really hard to get the normal 20 tile BFC usable, watch out for a Monty Sury or even worse, a Backstabber Cathy Sury, you won't see it coming. Who knows maybe you will get 6 Gandhi sury's. Looks like a flood plain to the south. Wish you the best, you probably wont hear me, i will be to busy laughing.

Toroidal means that the the top and bottom are identified as are the sides, in normal fashion. That is, if you have a square from [-1,1] x [-1,1], you identify the points {(-1,y),(1,y)}, {(x,-1),(x,1)}. If you think about it, you could curl the square up into a cylinder, then curl the ends of the cylinder together into a donut, aka toroid.

What's worse is if you identify (-1,y) to (1,(1-y)) but then identify (x,-1),(x,1). Then you curl the square into a mobius strip, which has one side, then paste the one side to itself into a four dimensional object. See, it is educational!

How are you going to create war's between the AI's??? I mean have you named them Suravayman green or Fred Surry...

Or do you just take the names, and say, "Suravayman, could you attack Suravayman for this tech/gold/favour..

Seems like you'll have no idea of who to stop trading with, close boarders with, or even who YOU ARE:eek:

Oh yeah, your the 'Crazy one':crazyeye:

LOL you really are a Mad Man, arent you MS. This one is going to be a blast, I cant resist. Beat the crap outta the Mansa one (first game I ever finished at Marathon speed, but I couldnt stop! It was like . . . mezmerizing how cool I was thumping them and hoarding gold!)

As for IPEXs question, I think that the only way to fix the "which Sury are you referring too" issue is to go into the WB file and change their names to Sury-1 through Sury-6, or something. I know one thing though, these guys are going to hate each other and likely war constantly, but we wont know who is winning! Will they change the city names I wonder? Or will there be 7 versions of words no one can pronounce anyway.

Well I havn't really been following many RPC's recently, havn't been getting much civ time, but I think I'll have to follow this one... this is going to be crazy :crazyeye:

I have absolutley no idea on the start??? Wouldn't know where to begin with that lot!

Good luck though :)

.

Might be worth it to move 1 SW.
I would say get BW for the silver and settler chop bonus.
Mine Oasis hill? I don't think so though not 100% sure.
Farm ice? No I think you can only build a watermill on it.
Were you being sarcastic about the questions or just asking a question?

Random personalities is an interesting tidbit.

Watch this have gandhi type personalities everywhere.

This might be tough though - creative AIs fare better than other AIs, and you're going to be drowning in them.

Suryavarman II :p

Hm, in America, a donut is often shaped like this:

Although that would be a very interesting map.

Well, my 3D rendering units have determined that it doesn't matter if the donut in question is a sphere or not. They both achieve the Torodial aspect.

I've been looking forward to this one for a long time :D
Can't mine Oasis hill, need BW for silver, ice tile can never be improved because it's on the corner of the river. Just settle in place, it's impossible to get the whole BFC usable on fantasy realm. Seek out the Floodplains bananas :p

You're missing the whole point of everyone being Sury. :p

By the way I'm not familiar with fanstasy maps... while its obvious all the tiles are insane, how is the shoreline handled? Are there any oceans or large lakes?

Regarding city names:
It'll use all the Khmer city names in order of how the cities are founded (Meaning, the 7 capitals will be named the same as the first 7 Khmer cities and so on) IIRC.

if you're going to change the name of the LH , better to change the civs names too ( it is far more important for those trade cuts and Dow requests ( they don't say to war with the X leader, but to war vs the Y civ )
